APPLE PIE FUDGE



Apple Pie Fudge image

A nice Holiday candy treat. Combines the holiday tradition of fudge candy with the flavor of apple pie!

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup applesauce
3/4 cup margarine
2/3 cup evaporated milk
3 cups sugar
2 cups marshmallow cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
1 teaspoon apple pie spice (or more to taste depends on how spicy the applesauce you used is)
nuts (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine the first four ingredients, bring to a boil (to soft ball stage).
  • Stir constantly because the mixture burns easily.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Add: marshmallow cream, vanilla and powdered sugar (sifted) and apple pie spice, Blend well; pour into greased pan.
  • Use an 8 or 9 inch square pan for a thick fudge or a 13x9 inch pan if you like it a little thinner.
  • Add nuts if desired.
  • Cool, cut into squares.

8 apples peeled, cored, and sliced
3 cups flour
1 1/2 cups sugar
8 eggs
2 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup powdered sugar

Steps:

  • Mix the flour with the baking powder. Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Beat the yolks with the sugar and vanilla. Beat the egg whites to make a tight meringue. Pour in the yolk mixture the flour and mix well. Fold in the meringue. Empty the mixture in a buttered baking pan. Place apples on top of the dough, in a way that half of each slice of apple is dipped into the dough. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top.
