Applesauce bars with a creamy white frosting are moist and flavorful.

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup Land O Lakes® Butter softened
1 large Land O Lakes® Egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups applesauce
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup raisins
Frosting
3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons Land O Lakes® Butter softened
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350°F. Spray 13x9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • Combine sugar, 1/3 cup butter and egg in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until creamy. Add all remaining ingredients except raisins. Beat at low speed, scraping bowl often, until well mixed. Stir in raisins.
  • Spoon batter into prepared pan. Bake 25-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely.
  • Combine all frosting ingredients except pecans in bowl. Beat at medium speed, scraping bowl often, until smooth.
  • Frost cooled bars; sprinkle with pecans. Cut into bars.

1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1/2 cup cinnamon applesauce
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup chunky applesauce
1/3 cup raisins
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375F degrees.
  • Combine flour, oats, baking powder and salt.
  • In separate bowl, beat white sugar and butter until blended.
  • Whisk in cinnamon applesauce, egg, and vanilla.
  • Add flour mixture to applesauce mixture and stir until well blended.
  • In small bowl, combine chunky applesauce, raisins, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Spoon half of oat mixture into sprayed 8-inch baking pan; pour raisin filling over top, and spoon remaining oat mixture over filling, spreading evenly.
  • Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until lightly browned; cool on wire rack.

¼ cup butter or margarine, softened
⅔ cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 cup applesauce
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 ½ cups confectioners' sugar
3 tablespoons margarine, melted
1 tablespoon milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the butter, brown sugar and egg until smooth. Stir in applesauce. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt and pumpkin pie spice; stir into the applesauce mixture until well blended. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden. Cool in the pan over a wire rack.
  • In a small bowl, mix together the confectioners' sugar and margarine. Stir in vanilla and milk until smooth. Spread over cooled bars before cutting into squares.

1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup canola oil
2 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/4 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup golden raisins
GLAZE:
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 to 3 tablespoons fat-free milk

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat the sugar, applesauce and oil until well blended. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, nutmeg and cloves; gradually beat into sugar mixture until blended. Stir in raisins. , Transfer to a 13x9-in. baking pan coated with cooking spray. Bake at 350° for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. , In a small bowl, beat the confectioners' sugar, butter, vanilla and enough milk to achieve a glaze consistency. 1 cup dried fruit bits

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Combine oats, flour, coconut, fruit bits, brown sugar, cinnamon and baking soda in large mixing bowl.

Not overly sweet, chewy, and moist these are really good! The sweetness comes from the applesauce, honey and raisins. Great for a quick light snack. Toasting the oats with the butter on the stove top just adds to the great flavor. Yum!

1 cup(s) raisins
1/4 cup(s) applesauce
2 teaspoon(s) vanilla extract
2 1/4 cup(s) oatmeal, uncooked
1 cup(s) chopped nuts
2 teaspoon(s) cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
2 - eggs, beaten
1/3 cup(s) honey

Steps:

  • Stir raisins, applesauce and vanilla; set aside.
  • Melt butter in pan over medium heat and add oatmeal and nuts stirring constantly; 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in cinnamon and salt; cook 1 minute.
  • Pour mixture from pan into a bowl.
  • Stir eggs and honey into raisin mixture.
  • Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Spread into 8x8 buttered pan and bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

Made this up to give my toddler a healthy and yummy snack--and to use up some of the millions of Cheerios we seem to always have in the pantry! Great to take to play groups, no eggs or honey so even young babies can share. Substitute any cereal you want!

2 cups cereal (Cheerios, corn flakes, Chex, Kix, whatever!)
1 cup raisins (or other dried fruit)
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 -2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 cup applesauce

Steps:

  • Mix all ingeredients in a medium bowl until well blended.
  • **Optional-throw a Tbs or two of Soy Flour in to boost up the protine of a picky child's diet!
  • Spray pan with cooking spay.
  • To make bars press into a 9x9 pan.
  • To make bite sized snacks, spread loosely onto a jelly roll pan.
  • Bake at 350 20-30 minutes unyil crisp and golden--watch the snacks, they cook faster.
  • Cut or crumble, cool and enjoy!
  • Store in an air tight container, they never last more than a couple days at our house so I'm not sure how long they are shelf stable.
  • Servings are approximate.
