Steps:
- For the ham starter: Trim meat off the bone. Place meat and bone in a pressure cooker and cover with water. Pressure cook for 45 minutes. Release pressure, then clean and chop meat and strain broth. This can be divided into 4 portions of starter. Freeze 3 of the portions for future use and set the remaining portion aside.
- For the glace: Put flour and salt in food processor. While it's running, stream in the eggs. Mix thoroughly. Put bench flour on a table, then dump dough out and knead to combine. Let rest 20 minutes. Flour table again and roll to about 1/4-inch thick, then cut into small squares with a pizza cutter. Make sure there's enough flour so the dumplings don't stick together. Rough them up in your hands to make them rustic looking. Put into a dry strainer and shake off excess flour.
- For the soup: Combine the reserved ham starter, ham base, green beans and their juice and potatoes in a pot. Add water to fill about three-quarters of the way. Bring it all to a boil. Add the glace directly to the pot and cook until they float.
- Combine the evaporated milk, sour cream and heavy cream in a separate bowl. Add some hot broth and whisk until completely smooth. Add the tempered cream mixture to the soup. Add salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste. Let simmer together for 45 minutes.
PAT'S BAKED BEANS
My step mom gave me this tasty recipe when I was lamenting over what to bring to a barbecue. I've taken this dish to several parties and there's NEVER been any left over!

HOMESTEAD COWBOY BEANS
I have an enormous family and all of the men go trail riding several times a year and these beans are one of the things they look forward to. My aunts and I put together their favorite combination several years ago, and have it ready at their camp, and they are some happy cowboys! You can mix different beans to your liking (lima, kidney, etc.), but the boys in our family like this mixture the best.

INSTANT POT COWBOY BEANS
Wow. These are terrific. And the instant pot makes them fast and easy. Recipe courtesy of SImply Happy Foodie. If you're using an 8 quart pot, use 2 cans of kidney beans and bump the amount of water up to 3/4 cup.

Steps:
- First, get everything ready. Meat and vegetables chopped, spices ready, garlic pressed or minced, measuring cups, etc. This helps the process go smoothly.
- Turn on the pot's saute setting and add the ground beef, bacon, and onion. Cook until meat is no longer pink. You shouldn't have to drain it unless you use a fattier meat. Leave some of the fat in there.
- Add the garlic and stir. Let cook for 1 minute.
- Add the water and kielbasa.
- Add the remaining ingredients in order (except brown sugar), and do not stir, just push them down into the mixture to cover them.
- Put the lid on the pot and set the steam release knob to the Sealing position.
- Cancel the saute setting.
- Pressure the pressure cook/manual button or dial, and then the plus or minus button or dial to select 8 minutes.
- Watch the pot until it comes to pressure. This is a pretty thick mixture, so you want to make sure you don't get the burn message. If you do, remove the lid if the pin is still down. Otherwise, release any pressure first and get your wood spoon down in there and scrape the bottom. Add another 1/4 cup of water if it looks too thick, close the lid, and reset.
- When the cook time is finished, turn the pot off (so it doesn't go to warming), and let it sit undisturbed for 15 minutes (natural release). Then release the remaining pressure in short bursts, until you are sure no sauce will be spewing out with the steam.
- When the pin in the lid drops down, open and carefully mix up the beans. Stir in the brown sugar.
- Serve with corn bread.

COWBOY BEANS
My husband makes this in the crock pot and cooks all day long. We usually serve it a parties. It's delicious. The last time he put hot dogs and sausage in it and it didn't turn out very good. So we'll be keeping to the original recipe! We like to use Scoops tortilla chips and eat it as a dip as well. We've substituted ground beef for ground deer meat.
