Baked Spicy French Fries (Ww Core) image

These are crispy, completely delicious and totally fat-free. In fact, we'll bet you like them more than the deep-fried fast-food variety.

1/2 teaspoon chili powder
3/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon table salt
2 large potatoes, sliced lengthwise into 1/2 " X 1/2-inch steak fries

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Spray a nonstick baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  • In a large bowl, combine all ingredients; toss to coat. Transfer to the baking sheet.
  • Bake until potatoes are barely tender, about 15 minutes.
  • Increase the oven temperature to broil; broil until crispy, about 10 minutes. Serve at once.

Fat Free version of the French Fry! I have in the past substituted Cajun Spice in place of the seasonings in the recipe.

6 medium baking potatoes
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon paprika
3 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Cut potatoes into wedges or slices and lightly spray a baking sheet with fat-free oil.
  • Place potato wedges or slices in a plastic bag with spices and half of the oil, then toss to cover all.
  • Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes turning and brushing often with the remaining oil.
  • Broil about 5 minutes turning after 3 minutes.

6 russet potatoes, peeled
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 tablespoon salt, plus more for sprinkling
2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Wash the potatoes and peel them.
  • Cut each potato in half, and then into wedges or fries.
  • Transfer potatoes to a bowl. drizzle with the olive oil, and toss by hand.
  • Add the Cayenne pepper, garlic powder and salt, and toss by hand so the potatoes are all spiced.
  • In an oven preheated to 400 F, cook the potatoes in a greased baking dish, until they are crispy on the outside.
  • Enjoy!
