1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup chili powder
3 tablespoons dried minced onion
1 tablespoon garlic powder
2-1/2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons dried oregano
2 teaspoons ground cumin
1-1/2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon ground coriander
ADDITIONAL INGREDIENTS:
1 pound lean ground beef (90% lean)
3/4 cup water
4 whole wheat tortillas (8 inches), warmed

Steps:

  • Combine the first nine ingredients. Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 1 year. Yield: 4 batches (about 1 cup total). , To prepare tacos: In a large skillet, cook beef over medium heat until no longer pink; drain. Add 1/4 cup taco seasoning mix and water. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Fill each tortilla with 1/2 cup beef mixture.

I love Taco Seasoning! It's not JUST for Tacos! I use this DIY Taco Seasoning Recipe to add a little zip to items like soups and casseroles.

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients together.
  • Store in an airtight container. for up to 6 months in a cool dry place.

Much lower salt than pre-made. Salt can be omitted. Great with half ground buffalo and half ground turkey breast or whatever you prefer. Buy bulk spices and you can make 5-plus batches for under $1.00!! Increasing black pepper and adding optional ingredients will increase heat. Using mild or regular chili powder and omitting optional ingredients will reduce heat. To keep salt content low make sure chili powder does not contain salt.

1/4 - cup instant minced onion
3 - tablespoons chili powder
2 - tablespoons ground cumin
2 - tablespoons salt
1 - tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes
1 - tablespoon instant minced garlic
1 - tablespoon cornstarch
2 - teaspoons oregano, crushed well
6 - small sandwich bags

Steps:

  • Combine until mixed very well. Divide mixture into 6 evenly distributed portions, and place in the sandwich bags. Place the 6 sandwich bags into a jar with a tight fitting lid. Include the recipe!
  • HOW TO USE THE MIX: Brown one pound of ground beef in a skillet. Drain the fat if any. Add one package of Taco Seasoning to the meat. Stir. Add 1/2 cup of water and 1 tablespoon of catsup. Simmer about ten minutes until water has evaporated.
  • Fry your own taco shells (they always taste better!) You can use prepared taco shells, too. Start with spooning the meat into the shells, adding chopped onion, and cheese, topping with chopped tomatoes and shredded lettuce. Serve with taco sauce, sour cream and guacamole and refried beans.
