This sage- and lime-infused gin cocktail is perfect for brunch. Cocchi Americano-an Italian aperitif wine-is beloved for its citrus, herbal, and bitter flavor.

Ingredients

For the sage syrup:
20 fresh sage leaves
1 cup sugar
For the cocktail
1 ounce gin
1/2 ounce Cocchi Aperitivo Americano or Lillet Blanc
3/4 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
1/4 ounce Campari
Sage leaf for garnish

Steps:

In a small pot, combine 20 sage leaves, sugar, and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil then lower heat to moderately low and simmer until aromatic and slightly thickened, about 10 minutes. Allow syrup to cool, then pour through a fine-mesh sieve and discard the sage. DO AHEAD: The sage simple syrup can be made in advance and stored, in an airtight container in the refrigerator, up to 1 week
In a cocktail shaker, combine 3/4 ounce sage simple syrup with the gin, Cocchi Aperitivo Americano, and lime juice. Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously until completely mixed, about 20 seconds. Strain into a chilled champagne coupe, then slowly add the Campari so that it settles at the bottom of the glass. Garnish with a fresh sage leaf.

This is a slight twist on the traditional mojito but it makes an incredible summertime cocktail so much better! You can use sparkling wine in place of champagne, if desired. Garnish with a mint sprig.

2 fluid ounces white rum
½ lime, quartered
4 fluid ounces sparkling white wine
¼ cup crushed ice

Steps:

Place mint leaves and sugar in the bottom of a collins glass. Crush mint using a muddler. Add rum and lime slices to glass and muddle again. Top with sparkling wine and crushed ice.

Mix mustard and juice.
Pour into champagne glass.

I got this from the Best of Bridge. I made it for Christmas and thanksgiving dinner in Korea and people raved about it. One male friend asked if I was making those awesome carrots when I invited him to Christmas dinner.

Ingredients

1 (1 lb) bag frozen baby carrots or 6 peeled and sliced fresh carrots
1/4 cup reserved carrot water
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup horseradish
2 tablespoons finely chopped onions
salt and pepper
1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
1 tablespoon melted butter (optional)

Steps:

Boil or steam carrots, reserving carrot water.
I always steam them to preserve the carrot flavor.
Place cooked carrots in a shallow casserole.
Combine the rest of the ingredients, pour over carrots and mix.
I use alot of horseradish because we like it.
You can use less if you want.
Note: The original recipe calls for bread crumbs mixed with the butter on top.
I didn't care for it and I always omit this.
If you want to try it, melt the butter, mix with breadcrumbs and sprinkle on top.
Bake at 375 F.
for 30 minutes or until horseradish sauce is bubbly.
