This is a nice spin on the average gift-in-a-jar cookie. They come out quite nice also when baked

Ingredients

1 1/8 c flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 c packed brown sugar
1/2 c sugar
1 c flacked coconut
1 c rice crispies
3/4 c butterscotch chips
1/2 c pecans, chopped

Steps:

1. Layer the ingredients in the order given in a one quart wide mouth canning jar. Firmly pack each ingredient in place. It will be a tight fit, but all ingredients will fit in the jar.
2. Use pinking shears to cut an 8 or 9 inch circle from gingham, calico, or a seasonal fabric. Place the fabric over the wide mouth lid and rim and secure with a rubber band. Tie on a raffia or ribbon bow to cover the rubber band.

4. Butterscotch Chip Cookies: Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Empty jar of cookie mix into a large mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup of butter or margarine, 1 egg, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Use hands to mix the wet and dry ingredients together. When completely blended, roll into large walnut-size balls. Place on unprepared cookie sheets and use the palm of your hand to flatten each cookie ball. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.

Ingredients

1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 1/3 cups flour
1 cup oats
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup butterscotch chips

Steps:

Combine flour, soda, and powder.
Place in a 1 pint jar.
Layer remaining ingredients pressing firmly after each layer.
Recipe to attach to jar:.
Preheat oven to 375°F.
Beat 12 tablespoons softened unsalted butter, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon vanilla in a large bowl until well blended. Place cookie mix in an other bowl and mix to combine ingredients. Add butter mixture and blend in to smooth any clumps. Drop tablespoon full onto ungreased pan and bake 9-11 minutes.
Cool on pan then remove to rack to completely cool.
