3 ounces semisweet chocolate, shaved or chopped
4 cups milk
1 cinnamon stick
2 jalapenos, stemmed and quartered lengthwise
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup mini marshmallows

Steps:

  • Put the chocolate into a bowl or liquid measuring cup and put a fine mesh sieve over the rim.
  • Add the milk, cinnamon stick and jalapenos, seeds included, to a medium pot over low heat. Bring to a simmer and let steep for 15 minutes. Stir in the vanilla. Pour the milk mixture into the sieve over the chocolate and discard the solids. Quickly stir the milk and chocolate together and pour it evenly into 4 mugs. Top with marshmallows and serve.

1 cup butter
2/3 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1 tsp almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour
2-3 drops green food coloring
5 squares (1 oz. each) semisweet chocolate, melted

Steps:

  • Cream butter and sugar. Stir in egg yolks and then add almond extract. Add flour, stirring until all ingredients are blended. Add green food coloring to make dough a pretty light green. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Pinch off small balls of dough, roll between palms of your hands into an acorn shape, pointed at the bottom. place on a greased and floured cookies sheet about 2 inches apart. Bake in a 375 degree oven, about 10 minutes until shininess has disappeared and cookie is solid. Remove cookie from pan and cool. Dip wide end of cookie in melted chocolate. Place on wax paper until chocolate has hardened. M

1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup finely chopped nuts, divided
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening

Steps:

  • In a bowl, cream butter, brown sugar and vanilla. Combine flour and baking powder; add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in 1/4 cup of nuts. , Shape rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into 1-1/2-in. x 1-in. ovals. Place 1 in. apart on ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 15-18 minutes or until light golden brown. Cool on wire racks. , In a saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate chips and shortening. Dip half of each cookie in chocolate. Dip chocolate ends into remaining nuts.
