CHOCOLATE FIBER BALLS

Chocolate Fiber Balls image

I wanted to find a way to get my fiber into my diet without having to buy the fiber crackers that are expensive, but really work well. So I put together this mix about once a week and take my daily dose of fiber.

Time 30m

Yield 20 balls, 20 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

3 cups puffed millet
1 cup puffed kamut
1/3 cup oat bran
2 teaspoons psyllium husks
2 scoops of vegan protein powder
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons brown rice syrup
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Melt Chocolate Chips in Microwave. Add Brown Rice Syrup. Mix in Oat Bran, Psyllium husks and Protein Powder. Add water to make it a little thinner. Mix in the Millet and Kamut. Stir until well mixed. Be patient as the chocolate mixture takes awhile to mix in with the dry ingredients. Form into balls.

AMISH BALLS (AKA HIGH FIBER BALLS)

Amish balls (aka high fiber balls) image

I got this recipe from a coworker and I didn't think much of it when I heard the ingredients just thinking ehhhh just another dry granola tasting thing. But I tried it and they are moist, amd delicious !!! And my kids are picky eaters and they LOVE these!!! I love how much fiber and protein they are getting with these Amish balls. They are also called high fiber balls. The Amish make them a lot and sell them at their market. And they sell them for 75 cents a piece!!! You can make them a lot cheaper!! Note- the recipe calls for bran flakes which you crush up, but I always use raisin bran!!

SWEDISH CHOCOLATE BALLS (OR COCONUT BALLS)

Swedish Chocolate Balls (or Coconut Balls) image

This is a classic Swedish recipe, beloved by every Swede. It is one of the first things children learn to make, and it's enjoyed greatly by all ages. The balls can either be bite-sized or giant, whichever seems more appealing. Or make one big ball, and many small ones. Additional cocoa powder or chocolate can be added to intensify the flavor.

1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 (1 ounce) squares unsweetened baking chocolate, melted
⅓ cup coconut flakes

SWEDISH CHOCOLATE BALLS (CHOKLADBOLLAR)

Swedish Chocolate Balls (Chokladbollar) image

They say that these Swedish chocolate balls, known as chokladbollar, are the first thing a Swedish child learns to make, and for good reason; they're easy to do, there's no baking required, and mixing the "dough" together makes for a fun activity. They sure beat snacking on a candy bar during the afternoon slump, as the fats and whole grain keep you satisfied much longer, while the coffee and cocoa provide the perfect pick-me-up.
