1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/2 cup sugar
1 small onion, cut into wedges
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 cup canola oil
Salad greens, tomato wedges and cucumber slices or vegetables of your choice

Steps:

  • In a blender, combine the mayonnaise, ketchup, vinegar, sugar, onion, salt and pepper; cover and process until smooth. While processing, gradually add oil in a steady stream. Serve with salad. Refrigerate leftover dressing.

3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 teaspoon sugar

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a blender and process until well mixed. Use the salad dressing immediately or place in a covered container and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. Mix well before using as the oil may separate.

1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup neutral tasting oil
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
1/3 cup granulated sugar
1 small yellow onion, roughly chopped
1 teaspoon sweet Hungarian paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Place all of the ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Taste and add more vinegar if you want it tangier, or more sugar if you want it sweeter. Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Will keep up to 2 weeks. Makes about 2 1/2 cups.

Play around with different combinations and don't feel limited to use them on lettuce alone. Creamy dressings make great dips for crudités or chips, of course, but can work as a sauce for poached shrimp or simple seared fish. So this is what I came up with and it worked for my taste and my grandson's! We dump it on everything! No more store bought French dressing for us!

1/2 cup mayonnaise (Homemade, Store bought or Vegan)
1/2 cup ketchup (I use Annie's Organic)
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar (I use Bragg's Organic)
2 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons onion juice (I just grate onions)
1 tablespoon crushed garlic
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
1 cup olive oil
1 dash salt and pepper, to your taste
1/4 cup milk or 1/4 cup buttermilk

Steps:

  • Place all ingredients in food processor or blender (except olive oil) and blend.
  • When all ingredients are blended slowly pour in olive oil.
  • Let sit for at least 12 hours for all the flavor to marinate together! Enjoy!
  • I make my own mayo and use organic ketchup and vinegar!
