1/2 cup Crisco
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup water (milk, or dairy-free milk substitute)

Steps:

  • Place the Crisco, vanilla, and salt in a medium bowl. Beat with a mixer on high speed until light and fluffy.
  • Switch the mixer to low speed and alternate adding the powdered sugar and the liquid until the ingredients are completely blended.
  • Beat on high speed until the frosting is smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes.

3/4 cup Butter flavored Crisco
1 1/4 cups Brown Sugar
2 tablespoons Milk
1 tablespoon Vanilla
1 Egg
1 3/4 cups All-purpose flour
1 teaspoon Salt
3/4 teaspoon Baking soda
1 cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup Pecan pieces

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375. Cream butter flavor crisco, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla in large bowl. Blend until creamy. Blend in egg. Combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Add to creamed mixture, gradually. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop rounded Tablespoonfuls (about 2 measuring tablespoons) of dough 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies (they will look light and moist) or 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies DO NOT OVERBAKE. Cool on baking sheet for 2 minutes. Classic snickerdoodles are easy with Crisco® Butter Flavor Shortening Sticks.

2 cups sugar, divided
1 cup Crisco® Butter Shortening or Crisco® Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening Sticks*
2 large eggs large eggs
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 ¾ cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
¾ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Combine 1 1/2 cups sugar, shortening, eggs, milk and vanilla in bowl of electric mixer. Beat at medium speed until well blended.
  • Combine flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt in medium bowl. Add gradually to shortening mixture at low speed. Mix just until blended.
  • Combine remaining 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in sugar-cinnamon mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake 7 to 8 minutes. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheets. Place on cooling racks to cool completely.

1 stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
1 ½ cups granulated sugar
½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons milk
3 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups Pillsbury BEST® All Purpose Flour
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 ½ teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon Colored sugar and decors
Buttery Cream Frosting:
4 cups powdered sugar
⅓ stick Crisco® Baking Sticks Butter Flavor All-Vegetable Shortening
1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
6 tablespoons milk, or more as needed
¼ teaspoon Food coloring

Steps:

  • Combine shortening, granulated sugar and brown sugar in large bowl; beat at medium speed until well blended. Add milk. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add vanilla.
  • Combine flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt in separate large bowl. Mix into shortening mixture until well blended. Chill 1 hour.
  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Roll out 1/3 of dough at a time to about 1/4-inch thickness on floured surface. Cut out with cookie cutters. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets. Sprinkle with colored sugars and decors or leave plain and frost when cooled.
  • Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until edges of cookies are slightly golden. Remove immediately to cooling rack.
  • Combine powdered sugar, shortening and vanilla in bowl of electric mixer; slowly blend in milk to reach desired consistency.
  • Beat on high speed for 5 minutes or until smooth and creamy. Tint frosting with food coloring, if desired.
  • Spread a thin layer of frosting on cookies and decorate with sparkling sugars or sprinkles while frosting is still wet to ensure the decorations stay in place. If you're planning to pipe on frosting decorations, make sure to allow the base coat of frosting, and then each addition layer, to dry completely before adding another.
