For an easy Halloween treat, try these adorable ghosts made from crispy rice cereal. All you need is a handful of ingredients and a ghost-shaped cookie cutter. Steps:
- Line an 18-by-13-inch rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and cook, stirring frequently, until melted and completely smooth, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and fold in the cereal until combined. Transfer the mixture to the prepared sheet pan. With wet hands, evenly press the mixture into the pan until packed in tight. Let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
- Using a 3.5-inch ghost-shape cookie cutter, stamp out 15 ghosts and transfer to a wire rack set inside another rimmed baking sheet. Place any scraps in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave at low power until they are pliable again, about 15 seconds. With wet hands, press the scraps back into the parchment-lined baking sheet. Let cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes. Use the cookie cutter to stamp out as many more ghosts as possible. Repeat with any scraps, if desired.
- Meanwhile, add the white chocolate to a medium microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring in between, until the chocolate is melted, about 1 minute 30 seconds.
- Spread some of the melted chocolate on top of each ghost then sprinkle with the white sanding sugar until covered. For each ghost, press in 2 chocolate chips for the eyes and 1 chocolate chip for the mouth. Let sit until the white chocolate hardens, about 10 minutes. Serve or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
CLASSIC CRISPY RICE TREATS
Gooey marshmallows and crispy rice cereal come together in this recipe for the all-original favorite. We added a splash of vanilla extract and pinch of salt to give these sweet treats a palatable punch. Cut into squares, store between a few pieces of wax paper (to prevent any sticking) and enjoy for up to three days.

Steps:
- Line a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with aluminum foil, leaving a 2-inch overhang on each of the longer sides. Spray the foil lightly with cooking spray.
- Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat. Add the marshmallows and cook, stirring occasionally, until melted and smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the vanilla and salt.
- Working quickly, add the rice cereal to the pot and stir with a rubber spatula until evenly coated. Transfer to the prepared baking dish and press into an even, compact layer. (Spray your hands with a little cooking spray to keep them from sticking when pressing the cereal mixture into the pan). Decorate with toppings if using (see Cook's Note).
- Let sit at room temperature until firm, about 30 minutes. Cut into 24 squares. Store the cereal treats at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
RED, WHITE AND BLUE CREPE CAKE

Steps:
- Set up your grill for cooking with direct and indirect heat. If using a charcoal grill, build the coals on one side only. If using a gas grill, heat one side only.
- For the berry fillings: Place the blueberries in a pan with a pinch of salt and shake out into an even layer. Place on the direct-heat side of the grill, cover with a lid and roast until the berries are bursting, 4 to 6 minutes. Mash with a fork or potato masher to smooth out. Place the strawberries in another pan with a pinch of salt and shake out into an even layer. Place on the direct-heat side of the grill, cover with a lid and roast until the berries are bursting, 4 to 6 minutes. Mash with a fork or potato masher to smooth out.
- To a blender or food processor, add the cream cheese and coconut cream. Blend until smooth, then divide into 2 mixing bowls. Add the roasted blueberry puree to one bowl and mix to combine. Add the roasted strawberry puree to the second bowl and mix to combine. Chill until thickened into a spreadable consistency, about 30 minutes.
- For the lemon filling: Add the cream cheese and butter to the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Cream until smooth, then scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl and add the lemon zest and juice, vanilla paste and confectioners' sugar and mix until smooth. Chill until thickened into a spreadable consistency, about 30 minutes.
- For the crepe batter: To a blender, add the milk, warm water, eggs, melted butter, flour, granulated sugar and salt. Blend until completely smooth, then set aside.
- Heat a nonstick crepe pan over medium heat. When the pan is hot, glaze it with butter to just barely coat. Using a 2-ounce ladle or 1/4-cup dry measure, scoop the crepe batter and pour into the center of the pan. Immediately swirl the batter evenly around the pan and slightly up the sides into an even thin layer. Place on the direct heat side of the grill and allow to cook until set and you start to see browning around the edges, about 1 minute. (You do not need to cook the other side.) Loosen the edges with a rubber spatula, then remove to a plate. (If you want to cook the other side to give your crepes a little more structure, flip, remove the pan from the heat and cook until the other side is just set, about 30 seconds.) Repeat with the remaining batter until you have 30 to 34 crepes. (You will only need to butter the pan every 3 to 4 crepes.) Cool the crepes completely before beginning to assemble.
- To assemble, lay out 1 crepe and spread evenly with the blueberry filling all the way to the edges. Repeat until you have 10 to 12 layers and have used all of the filling. Next layer 10 to 12 crepes with lemon filling. Finish by layering 10 to 12 crepes with strawberry filling. Gently press down, then cover and refrigerate overnight to allow the layers to set. Dust the cake with confectioners' sugar, and serve with fresh berries.
CRISPY CEREAL TREATS
For a no-bake treat just right for lunchboxes or after school, try this fun twist on a childhood favorite that goes beyond the usual "Snap, Crackle, and Pop" blueprint and plays with other great combinations found in the cereal aisle. Each of the four variations uses the same marshmallow base-whether you want to use the mix-ins to take it in a chocolatey, tropical, or fruity direction is entirely up to you!
