EASY DROP BISCUITS
One day I had company coming and realized I had run out of biscuit mix. I'd never made biscuits from scratch before, but I decided to give this easy drop biscuit recipe a try. Now this is the only way I make them! -Sharon Evans, Clear Lake, Iowa

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 450°. In a large bowl, combine the first 5 ingredients. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, whisk milk and egg. Stir into crumb mixture just until moistened. , Drop by 1/4 cupfuls 2 in. apart onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, 10-12 minutes. Serve warm.

- Preheat oven to 375°. In a large bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add cream; stir just until moistened., Drop by 1/4 cupfuls 1 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake until bottoms are golden brown, 17-20 minutes. Serve warm.
