What a great twist on lemonade. Freeze some of this into ice cubes to use in the drinks, so it won't be diluted!

3 cups white sugar
4 quarts water
14 slices fresh ginger root
4 cups fresh lemon juice
2 lemons, sliced

Steps:

  • In an 8-quart saucepan combine sugar, water and ginger root. Heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  • Stir in lemon juice. Cool 15 minutes. Remove ginger. Refrigerate lemonade at least 1 hour, or until chilled.
  • Serve over ice, and garnish with lemon slices.

1 cup honey
1/3 cup sliced ginger
1 1/2 cups fresh-squeezed lemon juice
Ice cubes, for serving

Steps:

  • Bring 2 cups water, the honey and ginger to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat. Turn off the heat and let steep for 10 minutes. Strain and refrigerate until cold.
  • Put 4 cups water, the chilled honey and ginger mixture and the lemon juice in a large pitcher and stir until combined. Pour over ice into your favorite vintage glasses.

After a day of hard work in the garden, I was aching for a cold glass of lemonade. This recipe came to me as I was contemplating how to put it together: I wanted a zippy lemonade and remembered some spiced honey that I had made plus there was ginger ale in the frig. If you have all of the ingredients on hand, this comes together in minutes with NO effort at all! Have fresh lemon juice frozen in ice cube trays, cold ginger ale, and this recipe Recipe #110383 in your pantry and you'll always have a delicious, refreshing drink at the ready!

3 ice cubes
3 ice cubes (frozen, fresh squeezed lemon juice)
1/4 cup water, hot
1 tablespoon spiced honey (Love Honey)
3/4 cup ginger ale (I prefer Canada Dry brand)

Steps:

  • NOTE: This is made in a 12 ounce glass. My ice cube makes cubes that equals 1 tablespoon. So, if you want to use freshly squeezed lemon juice rather than frozen, you'll need 3 tablespoons of juice to equal the 3 frozen cubes of lemon juice.
  • In a 12 ounce glass, put 3 plain ice cubes and 3 cubes of frozen lemon juice.
  • In a separate small glass, pour in 1 tablespoon of the Spiced Honey. Add 1/4 cup of very hot water and stir with a spoon to dissolve honey thoroughly.
  • Pour hot honey water over the ice and lemon cubes and stir thoroughly until cubes are almost melted.
  • Fill the remainder of the glass with cold ginger ale. Stir to combine flavours and enjoy!

1/2 cup packed chopped fresh mint leaves
1/3 cup chopped fresh ginger
1/3 cup honey
2 cups boiling water
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (or to taste)
1 1/2 cups cold water
ice cube
fresh mint leaves
lemon slice

Steps:

  • Combine chopped mint, ginger and honey in medium bowl; add boiling water and allow to steep for 30-40 minutes; strain into 4-cup glass measuring cup, pressing on solids to extract liquid; add lemon juice and enough cold water to measure 4 cups total.
  • Fill glasses with ice cubes; add lemonade; garnish with mint leaves and fresh lemon slices.
  • Note: If you like to 'tipple' (I know I do:-)), spike this with some vodka!!!

4 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
4 teaspoons honey
3 cups boiling water
12 whole cloves
4 lemon wedges
12 honey-drop candies

Steps:

  • Pour 2 tablespoons simple syrup in each of four heatproof glasses or mugs. Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon honey, and 3/4 cup boiling water to each; stir until honey dissolves.
  • Stick 3 cloves into each lemon wedge; drop a wedge and 3 candies into each drink. Serve immediately.

1/2 cup water
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
1/2 cup sugar
chilled water or Sprite, to mix

Steps:

  • Mix the 1/2 cup of water with the ginger and squeeze through a strainer to get ginger concentrate.
  • Add the sugar and the lime juice to this. Stir well till all the sugar dissolves.
  • Adjust the sugar if you need to. Pour it into bottles and refrigerate.
  • To serve, add a teaspoonful of this concentrate to each cup of chilled water or Sprite and mix well.

  • Place the honey and water in a medium saucepan, bring to a simmer stirring until honey is completely dissolved. Turn off heat, add the freshly grated ginger. Cover and let steep for 30 minutes.
  • Strain syrup thorough a fine mesh sieve, pressing hard on the ginger pulp discarding the solids. Pour into a bottle or jar, and chill until cold, about 1 hour. The syrup will keep in your refrigerator for up to two weeks.
  • Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice and the honey ginger syrup to a large pitcher. Add cold water (more or less depending on how strong you like your lemonade). If you are using sparkling water don’t add it until you are ready to serve so that it doesn’t lose its fizz.
