Okay, I know this is strange but it is in response to a request on the boards. Actually looks interesting and if you're going to blow calories on Oreos why not have them deep fried to boot? :)

1 bag Oreo cookies
2 cups pancake mix
1 1/2 cups milk
2 eggs
4 teaspoons oil
plus oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • Preheat deep fryer to 375 degrees F.
  • Combine pancake mix, milk, eggs and oil.
  • Mix until there are no lumps.
  • Dip Oreos into batter, make sure both sides are covered and put the Oreos into the deep fryer.
  • You will need to watch these as the cookies tend to float- so be sure to turn them.
  • Also be careful that they don't burn- you just want them golden brown.
  • Remove the cookies and drain well.
  • The cookies are best straight out of the deep fryer!

This is a carnival favorite where I grew up. Oreos get dipped into pancake batter and fried - yummy!! You can do this with or without a deep fryer.

2 quarts vegetable oil for frying
1 large egg
1 cup milk
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 cup pancake mix
1 (18 ounce) package cream-filled chocolate sandwich cookies (such as Oreo®)

Steps:

  • Heat oil in deep-fryer to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Whisk together the egg, milk, and 2 teaspoons of vegetable oil in a bowl until smooth. Stir in the pancake mix until no dry lumps remain. Dip the cookies into the batter one at a time, and carefully place into the hot frying oil. Fry only 4 or 5 at a time to avoid overcrowding the deep fryer. Cook until the cookies are golden-brown, about 2 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate before serving.

I had these at a local county fair and just had to try to make them. They are delicious.You can substitute your favorite dry pancake mix for the Bisquick. They are best when eaten warm. If you are want to try a lighter version, use lowfat milk, canola oil, and reduced fat Oreos.

1 (20 ounce) package Oreo cookies
2 cups Bisquick
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
3 teaspoons oil
vegetable oil (enough for deep frying)

Steps:

  • Blend Bisquick, eggs, milk, and 3 tsp oil until smooth.
  • Preheat your deep fryer to about 375°F (use a thermometer if you wish to deep fry in a pan).
  • Dip the cookies in the batter mixture until totally covered and then place in the hot oil (cookies will float).
  • Keep checking and turn over the cookie when bottom side of Oreo is brown.
  • Keep a close watch because it only takes a short time to brown.
  • Remove cookies and eat warm.

A little bit of chocolate, cream, and pancake makes one heck of a dreamy combination. You can't forget to dust them with powdered sugar, it's like icing on a cake!

2 cups Krusteaz pancake mix
1 1/2 cups water
36 Oreos (1 standard package)
powdered sugar (for dusting)
4 cups vegetable oil (or shortening, for frying - about 4-5 cups)

Steps:

  • Fill a heavy bottom pot 3-4 inches deep with shortening or vegetable oil. Heat over medium high until the oil reaches 375°F. You will need to adjust the burner temp regularly during frying to maintain oil at precisely 375°F. Clip a candy thermometer on the pot to be able to regularly monitor the temperature.
  • Whisk together pancake mix and water until a few lumps remain - the mixture should be thick enough to coat an Oreo, but thin enough that excess batter with drip off the Oreo.
  • Dip an Oreo cookie into the pancake batter, tossing it to coat evenly on both sides. Lift the Oreo from the batter using a fork and quickly tap off any excess batter.
  • Transfer the cookie gently into the heated oil and fry for 2-3 minutes, flipping the Oreo once the first side is golden brown.
  • Lift the golden brown oreo from the oil with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to soak up excess oil. Continue coating, frying, and straining the Oreos, adding several at a time to the oil, but maintaining the ideal fry temperature of 375°F.
  • Dust fried Oreos with powdered sugar.
  • Allow to cool for several minutes before serving.
