6 tablespoons butter, softened
⅓ cup white sugar

Steps:

  • Mix crumbs, butter, and sugar in a bowl. Press mixture into a 9-inch pie plate. Use a spoon to press the crumbs up the side of the plate and the side of your hand to press down on the top.
  • Refrigerate at least 1 hour before filling.

This simple graham cracker crust is made with butter, sugar, and graham cracker crumbs. Measurements are included for both standard and deep dish pies.

For a Standard 8- or 9-Inch Pie Crust:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/3 cup butter (melted)
1/4 cup sugar
For a Thicker Crust for Cheesecake or Deep Dish Pie:
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
1/2 cup butter (melted)
1/3 cup sugar

Steps:

  • If the recipe you're making requests a baked pie shell, preheat the oven to 375 F.
  • For an unbaked pie shell, chill for an hour in the refrigerator before filling. To loosen a chilled crust so it will release from the pie plate easily and in one piece, heat the bottom and sides of the pie plate with a damp kitchen towel which has been rinsed in very hot water.
  • For a baked pie shell, bake it for about 8 to 10 minutes. For a firm pie shell, bake it for 10 to 12 minutes, or chill it thoroughly in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
  • Place the pie shell on a rack and cool completely before filling.
  • Enjoy!

It works best with fillings that don't require the structure and heft of traditional pie dough, like this Key lime pie or this ube pie.

5 ounces/140 grams graham crackers (one 9-cracker sleeve), pulsed into fine crumbs in a food processor (about 1 cup)
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 cup/55 grams unsalted butter (1/2 stick), melted

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar and salt. Stir in the melted butter. (Mixture will look like wet sand.) Press into the bottom and up the sides of a standard (not deep-dish) 9-inch pie pan. Fill and bake according to your recipe. Yield Makes one 10-inch single piecrust

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, cut into pieces
1/4 cup ice water
4 graham crackers, finely ground (1/2 cup)

Steps:

  • Pulse flour and salt in a food processor to combine. Add butter, and process until mixture resembles coarse meal, about 10 seconds. With machine running, add the ice water a tablespoon at a time, and process just until dough holds together, no more than 30 seconds.
  • Turn out dough onto a lightly floured work surface. Flatten dough into a disc; wrap in plastic. Refrigerate at least 1 hour.
  • Spread crumbs on a clean work surface. Roll out dough on top of crumbs, coating both sides, into a 14-inch round about 1/8 inch thick. Gently fit dough into a 10-by-2-inch (1 1/2 quart) pie plate, and crimp edges as desired. Refrigerate shell at least 30 minutes before baking.
