Steps:
- Start by putting the chicken in a pot and covering it with water. Bring the water to a boil, and then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 45 minutes. Remove the chicken from the pot. Set the chicken aside to cool briefly.
- Shred the chicken with 2 forks, reserving the bones. Return the bones to the pot and boil for 20 minutes. Remove the bones from the pot and discard.
- Add the shredded chicken, carrots, celery and onions to the pot. Then add the salt, pepper, thyme and turmeric. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, and then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir in the noodles; no need to thaw them first!
- Finally, mix the flour with 1/2 cup water until smooth. Stir the flour mixture, the splash of half and half (if you're into that kind of thing) and the minced parsley into the pot. Simmer until the noodles are tender, about 15 minutes, tasting and adding more salt if needed at the end. The soup should be thick and stew-like and your kitchen should smell like home.

Steps:
- Cover noodles in hot water while preparing the other ingredients. Heat a pot of water until steam rises.
- Put all but a tablespoon of the oil in a wok or large skillet, and turn heat to high. When it smokes, add the chicken, and stir until it loses its color; it doesn't cook through. Remove with slotted spoon.
- Add bean sprouts, peas and shiitakes. Stir until wilted and beginning to brown. Add sauces and wine. Remove from the pan.
- Drain noodles, and dip them in the boiling water with tongs or in a strainer for about 5 seconds. Drain. Add remaining oil and the egg to pan, still over high heat. Stir to scramble. Add drained noodles and cooked ingredients, and toss, lifting (scrape, if necessary) repeatedly until all are mixed together and hot. Garnish, and serve.

GRANDMA'S HOMEMADE CHICKEN NOODLES
This is an inexpensive meal for the whole family. Nice thick, homemade egg noodles in a chicken broth. My grandmother and mother both made this all the time when I was growing up and it was a household favorite.

Steps:
- The chicken can be whole pieces or bite sized whatever you prefer. I like to cut chicken breast into bite sized pieces.
- In a large soup pot boil chicken in water or chicken broth. Add garlic, salt and pepper to taste.
- While chicken is boiling combine flour, salt and eggs into a large mixing bowl. Start with a 1/4 cup of milk and add more milk or flour to get a pie crust type consistency.
- Roll out dough on a floured surface as thin as you like remembering that the noodles will probably double in thickness when cooking (Thinner the better in my mind). Cut the noodles with a pizza or noodle cutter. I typically cut them into 1/2 inch by 5 inch pieces.
- If the chicken is finished cooking then add the noodles into the boiling broth and cook until done. (If they are not finished you will see a white center, the noodles turn yellow when cooked) Takes about 5 minutes to cook at the thickness that I roll the noodles.
- Add the worcestershire sauce and butter.
- Serve in a bowl or plate depending on if you want lots of broth or not and I recommend sprinkling parmesean cheese over the top when finished.

CHICKEN 'N' NOODLES FOR TWO
I discovered this recipe quite a few years ago. It's a fast and flavorful supper that's just the right size for us "empty-nesters". But it can be easily doubled for guests.

GRAM'S CHICKEN AND NOODLES
This was a favorite comfort food when I was a child. My Grams made it when times were tough, and whenever I asked for it! I've changed it to my own family's tastes over the years and simplified it for myself, using the frozen egg noodles. Gram made her own noodles, but I never had much luck with them, as I don't care for floury hands. When I found them already made up and frozen in the store I was so happy! I use the boxed free range or roasted chicken stock, you can use canned as well. This freezes great, I take it frozen on hunting trips and reheat in the trailer. When reheating, add some canned chicken broth, because the noodles tend to suck up all the moisture. You can add anything you want to this, onions, carrots and so on. I'm submitting it this way because this reminds me of the way my Gram made it and we just like it like this!

Steps:
- In a large stockpot, place the whole chicken, the water, broth and bouillon cubes, and slowly bring to a light boil; boil, uncovered, for about 45 minutes - 1 hour, until chicken is done through but not yet falling off the bone.
- Remove chicken and set aside to cool a bit.
- Cool the broth and skim the fat off, I use a fat seperator for this, returning the de-fatted broth to the washed stockpot.
- When chicken is cool enough to handle, but still warm, pull off the skin and seperate the meat from the bones, leaving chunks in good bite-sized pieces. Set aside or refrigerate. At this point everything can be refrigerated and kept for 2 days.
- Bring stock to boil and add the thawed noodles, a handful at a time, and boil for about 45 minutes, stirring often to prevent them from sticking together. In this time the liquid will become thicker, like a gravy. If you feel you would like more liquid, add canned chicken broth to your taste.
- It's ready to eat now, but I always keep it on the stove with the heat turned off for a couple hours to blend. Reheat gently and serve.
