Great Grandma's Peach Cobbler image

This was my great grandma's recipe from the 40's and earlier. Its so easy to make. I remember this being my favorite dessert from when I was a child. This is delicious when hot and served with ice cream or I enjoy it cold by itself. Enjoy!

1 (29 ounce) can sliced peaches in juice, drained, reserving juice
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
½ cup butter, melted

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Arrange peach slices in a 9-inch round baking dish. Pour about half the reserved peach juice on top; discard remaining juice. Beat egg, flour, and sugar in a bowl until combined; pour over peaches. Drizzle melted butter over flour mixture.
  • Bake in preheated oven until golden brown, about 45 minutes.

I know everyone has a favorite, but this is still the easiest and best cobbler I have ever tried. A great potluck or holiday dish that takes little time to prepare.

1 cup Bisquick (or other baking mix)
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
6 tablespoons margarine
2 cups peaches (29 oz. can, undrained)
2 teaspoons tapioca
1/2 cup sugar (for topping)

Steps:

  • Melt margarine in an 11x7x2 pan in oven at 375°F While melting, mix sugar, bisquick and milk. Remove pan from oven and pour mixture inches DO NOT STIR.
  • Stir in tapioca with the peaches and syrup. Pour on top. DO NOT STIR.
  • Sprinkle 1/2 cup sugar on top. DO NOT STIR. Bake 30 minutes at 375°F.

¾ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 (15 ounce) can peaches in heavy syrup
1 ½ cups white sugar, divided
½ cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 pinch salt

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Place 1/2 cup butter in a casserole dish.
  • Place casserole dish in the preheating oven until butter is melted. Remove.
  • Mix remaining 1/4 cup butter, peaches, 1/2 cup white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract together in a bowl. Spread over melted butter in the casserole dish.
  • Mix remaining 1 cup white sugar, milk, flour, baking powder, and salt together in a bowl to make a smooth batter. Pour over peach mixture.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, about 45 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

1 stick butter
1 1/2 cup sugar
1 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3/4 cup milk
1 can (30 oz) sliced peaches in syrup
1 tsp cinnamon
1/3 tsp nutmeg

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Mix together 1/2 cup sugar and all of cinnamon and nutmeg. Drain syrup from peaches. Save the syrup. Mix 1 cup sugar and the other dry ingredients together in a bowl. Stir in milk and syrup from peaches. Put peaches in baking dish with melted butter. Pour batter over the top of peaches. Sprinkle sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg mixture over top of batter. Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until top crust is golden brown.

Bottom layer
1/2 Cup butter
1 Cup self rising Flour (make sure it is self rising flour)
1 Cup sugar
1 Cup milk

Steps:

  • Top layer 1. Mix the peaches, flour and sugar in a cooking pan 2. Cook on stove pot until it thickens (about 1 minute after it starts boiling) 3. Set aside Bottom layer 1. Melt butter in baking dish 2. Stir in flour, sugar and milk 3. Mix well (may be slightly lumpy) 4. Add the peaches mixture on top 5. Spread evenly 6.
