This is better than garlic bread! Looks great on a buffet table and goes with anything. Can be prepared the day before if wrapped in foil, if they get a little saturated over night, it's ok, makes them even better!

12 slices baguette, cut diagonal (1/2 inch thick)
1 cup freshly shredded parmesan cheese
1/3 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley
1 smashed garlic clove
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon cayenne

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Spread the bread on a baking sheet.
  • Mix the cheese, mayonnaise, parsley, garlic, salt and cayenne in a small bowl.
  • Spread a heaping tablespoon of the cheese mixture on each slice of bread.
  • Bake until golden brown and bubbly, 6 to 8 minutes.
  • Serve hot.

1 pint milk
2 eggs
1/2 lb feta, crumbled
2 cups self-rising flour
1/2 cup chopped pitted kalamata olive
1 tablespoon dried oregano
2 tablespoons butter, melted or 2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Butter a 13 X 9 inch baking pan generously and flour lightly.
  • Beat eggs with milk and some salt and pepper.
  • Add feta, flour, olives and oregano and beat in well.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 45-55 minutes, or until tester inserted in centre comes out clean.

8 slices home-style white bread or 8 slices Texas toast thick bread
3 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup milk, divided
2 cups gruyere or 2 cups swiss cheese, shredded (8 oz)
2 eggs, separated
1 tablespoon kirsch or 1 tablespoon cherry brandy
1 dash salt
1 dash pepper
1 dash nutmeg

Steps:

  • Butter bread and place butter-side down in 12x8" baking dish.
  • Sprinkle with about 2 tbsp milk.
  • Combine remaining milk, cheese, egg yolks, kirsch and seasonings; mix well.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff peak forms; fold into cheese and milk mixture.
  • Pour mixture over bread in baking dish.
  • Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  • Serve immediately.

1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons crumbled feta cheese
2 teaspoons grated parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon dill weed
nonstick cooking spray

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Separate each pita bread into two rounds by gently running a sharp knife around the edge. Place on an ungreased baking sheet with the smooth side up.
  • Lightly spray each piece with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Divide feta cheese and sprinkle evenly over bread, then divide Parmesan cheese and dill weed and sprinkle evenly over the feta cheese.
  • Bake 10 minutes, until cheese is melted and edges of bread just begin to brown.
