HOMEMADE MOUNTAIN DEW
Steps:
- Combine your cream of tartar, sugar, and a cup of water.
- Place it on a pot on the stove and bring to a boil. Once it starts boiling, lower the heat and allow it to simmer for 20 minutes. Then, turn off the heat and let it cool.
- Once your mixture is cool, separately boil another cup of water. Add in the fruit peels and remove from the heat. Cover and set aside, allowing it to steep. Once it has reached room temperature, you need to strain it.
- Add the citrus peel water to the sugar mixture. Blend them all together and add in carbonated water. Mix gently to combine. Once everything has dissolved, it is completely mixed and ready to drink.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch pan.
- In a large bowl, combine cake mix, pudding mix, oil, eggs and citrus soda. Mix until all ingredients are moistened.
- Pour into prepared 9x13 inch pan and bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely.
- To make the topping: In a saucepan, combine pineapple (with juice), sugar and corn starch. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring constantly, until thick. Remove from heat. Add butter and coconut. Spread topping evenly over cake.

- In a large bowl, combine cake mix and pudding mix. Add soda, oil, and eggs. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan, and bake for 45 to 50 minutes, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Let cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and let cool completely on a wire rack.
