HOT SPICED TEA
Cool weather activities call for warm drinks. Whether you are throwing a game day party at home, tailgating at the stadium, or taking the family to the pumpkin patch for an outdoor picnic, your guests will be cheery and snug when you serve this Hot Spiced Tea. Remember the popular "Russian tea" recipes made with powdered orange drink and instant tea? This beverage tastes even better, because you make it with brewed chai tea, real orange, lemon, and pineapple juices, and cinnamon sticks, fresh cloves, or mulling spices. This tea can be made in less than 30 minutes and can be served hot or cold, which means you can make it a day before your party or just minutes before your guests arrive. Pour into a thermos to transport to a party, serve warm in mugs immediately, or chill the tea and serve it later over ice. Sometimes a warm drink is all you need to chase the chill. Check out this lineup of more cool-weather drink ideas, such as Gingerbread Cocoa and White Chocolate Latte. Hot Spiced Tea pairs well with easy party appetizers or tea sandwiches.

HOT SPICED TEA (TANG-BASED, AKA RUSSIAN TEA)
This powdered hot tea mix flavored with orange, cloves, and cinnamon has been a favorite of mine since childhood... and is now a favorite inexpensive gift for friends and family. Our family can't go through fall or winter without it! (The vitamin C, cinnamon, and cloves are all proven germfighters, too!)

Steps:
- Mix all ingredients thoroughly. A food processor makes this effortless, but I managed with a blender for years, and have even stirred it together by hand when necessary-- although it's not quite as pretty when done that way.
- To enjoy: stir 2-3 heaping teaspoons into a mug of hot water and adjust to suit your own taste. Ahhh!
- This mix starts to harden in the jar after six months or so, so drink up! Servings and Yield are approximations only.

HOT SPICED TEA FOR THE HOLIDAYS
This is an old family favorite, handed down from my great-grandmother. The holidays officially begin with Christmas carols and my favorite hot spiced tea! Definitely a seasonal comfort beverage for me! I prefer to use fresh juices with pulp. The flavors are different. Canned pineapple in light syrup is best. Set the pineapple chunks aside for the rest of your holiday baking. Store leftovers in refrigerator and reheat as needed.

This spiced citrus treat was served to me by a sweet, little, old church lady while I was warming up with my college choir to perform a concert at her church. It is soothing, tasty and great for a tired throat.
