1 (3 pound) whole chicken, cut into pieces
½ cup ketchup
¼ cup water
¼ cup packed brown sugar
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place chicken pieces in a single layer in a lightly greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the ketchup, water, brown sugar and dry soup mix. Carefully pour over the chicken, making sure that all of the pieces are covered.
  • Cover dish and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.

1/2 cup Italian dressing
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 tbsp honey
1 1/2 tsp ground cumin

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and mix until combined. Add steaks and marinade to a zip lock bag, tossing the steaks a few times to coat. Press the excess air out, seal the bag, and refrigerate for 15 minutes to 2 hours. Remove steaks from bag and discard marinade. Grill steaks.

I know, I hate to use soups and packaged items in cooking, but I admit, a few times I have. I stay away from them as much as possible ... However, ever have you SO come home or call and say "hey whats for dinner? I invited Bill and Bob and their SO's to come, hope that is ok." So now what? Well this is my go to fix. It can be used with skirt steak, flank, chicken any cut, pork chops or tenderloin, even fish. Steak, chicken and pork of course the longer the marinade the better, but even 2 hours with this is great. Longer the better. It combines a pre-packaged dry dressing and some red wine, fresh citrus and presto. Tender juicy steak or chicken every time. I have even made pork chops and equally as good. I usually like fresh, but sometimes, you just need to improvise. Serve this with my 5 minute mashed potatoes with parsley and butter, some roasted tomato and onion slices and some fresh asparagus or beans just pan seared quickly and some crunchy bread. Dinner in under 20 minutes.

1/8 ounce good seasons garlic herb salad dressing (One package or you can use the Zesty Italian, but then you may want to add 1 tablespoon extra minced)
1 cup orange juice
1 small shallot, thin sliced
1/4 cup olive oil
1/8 cup balsamic vinegar or 1/8 cup red wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Marinade -- Mix all in a large baggie and add your beef or poultry or pork and let marinade 3, 4, 8, or 12 hours. 2 hours will give you good flavor, 8 will give you amazing flavor, but regardless, tender and a easy quick marinade. Just grill your and enjoy!
