- Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour four 5 3/8 x 3 1/4 x 1 7/8-inch loaf pans. Sift flour, baking powder and salt into medium bowl. Using electric mixer, beat sugar and unsalted butter in large bowl until light and fluffy. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in orange juice, grated orange peel and vanilla extract (batter may look curdled). Beat in flour mixture. Fold in poppy seeds.
- Divide batter equally among prepared pans (about 1 1/2 cups each). Place pans in oven. Bake until tops of cakes are brown and tester inserted into center comes out clean, about 55 minutes. Transfer pans to rack. Cool cakes 10 minutes. Cut around sides of pans to loosen cakes. Turn cakes out onto wire racks and cool completely. (Cakes can be prepared up to 1 week ahead. Wrap in aluminum foil; store cakes at room temperature.)

- Process the orange in a food processor until pureed. Add the remaining ingredients and process until smooth.
- Pour mixture into a baking paper lined 20cm cake pan and bake at 180°C for 45-50 minutes or until golden and a skewer comes out clean when inserted into the centre of the cake. (The cake will not rise much).
- Stand the cake for 5 minutes before turning out onto a cooling rack.
- For sticky oranges: Peel the rind from orange into long straight segments & finely julienne rind.
- Combine the sugar and water in a saucepan, stir over low heat until sugar dissolves, add orange rind and bring to the boil, simmering for 10 minutes until syrupy and orange rind is translucent.
- Drizzle warm syrup over cake and decorate with sticky orange rind, serve thin slices dolloped with pure cream.

- Heat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pan). Grease and lightly flour 12-cup fluted tube cake pan, or spray with baking spray with flour.
- In large bowl, beat cake mix, 1 tablespoon orange peel, water, 1/2 cup orange juice, oil and eggs with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, then on medium speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in poppy seed. Pour into pan.
- Bake as directed on box for 12-cup fluted tube pan. Cool 15 minutes; remove from pan to cooling rack or heatproof serving plate. Cool completely, about 2 hours.
- In small bowl, mix powdered sugar, 1/4 teaspoon orange peel and 1 tablespoon orange juice. Stir in additional orange juice, 1 teaspoon at a time, until glaze is smooth and consistency of thick syrup. Spread glaze over top of cake, allowing some to drizzle down sides. Garnish with additional orange peel. Store loosely covered.

- Prep mix-ins
- In small bowl, combine poppy seeds and lemon juice. Set aside. In second small bowl, toss together chocolate chips and flour. Set aside. In third small bowl, gently mash banana. Set aside.
- Make batter
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter 9 (4-ounce) disposable mini loaf pans. (If using nondisposable metal pans, butter them, then line with parchment paper and butter paper.)
- In medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In large bowl, using electric mixer fitted with whisk attachment, beat butter at high speed until creamy, about 3 minutes. Add sugar and beat until mixture is light and somewhat fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add eggs 1 at a time, beating well at low speed after each addition, then beat in vanilla. Add 1/3 of flour mixture and beat at low speed until not quite combined, about 30 seconds. Add 1/3 of milk and and beat at low speed until not quite combined, about 30 seconds. Repeat with remaining flour mixture and milk, adding in 2 more batches of each. Beat at low speed just until smooth.
- Pour 1/3 of batter into medium bowl. Gently stir in poppy seed-lemon juice mixture and lemon zest. Divide among 3 of prepared pans.
- Pour 1/2 of remaining batter into medium bowl. Gently fold in chocolate chip-flour mixture and mashed banana. Divide among 3 of prepared pans.
- Divide remaining vanilla batter among remaining 3 prepared pans.
- Place all pans on large baking sheet. Bake until cakes are puffed and firm to touch and tester inserted into the center comes out with few crumbs attached, about 30 to 40 minutes. Cook on rack.
- When cool, wrap each cake in plastic wrap, then parchment or wax paper. Label, stack in groups of 3 (1 of each kind), and tie together with ribbon or twine.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease and flour 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2" loaf pan.
- Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt; reserve.
- On medium speed beat granulated sugar, oil and egg whites until blended. On low, beat in poppy seeds, 1 1/2 t zest and flour mixture.
- Beat in 3/4 c milk until smooth.
- Pour batter into pan.
- Bake 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes. Remove from pan; cool completely on rack.
- Whisk confectioners' sugar with remaining 2 t of milk and 1/2 t zest; pour over cake.
- Garnish with orange zest strips, if desired.

- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Generously butter a 8 1/2 by 4 1/4 by 2 1/2-inch loaf pan. (Ina suggests lining the bottom of the pan with parchment paper cut to fit. I didn’t do this but the cake did stick to the bottom a little bit.)
- Pour the sugar into a medium-sized mixing bowl. Grate all the zest from the orange (should yield about 2 teaspoons zest). Rub the zest into the sugar until the sugar is orange and fragrant.
- Slice the orange in half for juicing. In a liquid measuring cup, measure out 3/4 cup yogurt and squeeze in about 1/4 cup orange juice to yield 1 cup total liquid. Whisk the yogurt and orange juice, eggs and vanilla into the sugar mixture.
