GRILLED LONDON BROIL STEAK



Grilled London Broil Steak image

Grilled London Broilseared over high heat for lovely sear marks on the outside, with a juicy and tender center.

4 cloves garlic (minced)
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon dried Italian seasonings
½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
½ teaspoon crushed red hot red pepper flakes
2 pounds flank or top round steaks (about 4 pieces)
Cooking spray or oil

Steps:

  • Stir together all ingredients except for steak in a large Ziplock bag. Note: you can skip steps 1 and 2, and use steak seasoning if desired.
  • Add steaks and seal, removing air. Marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  • Remove steak from the fridge and bring it to room temperature, about 30-45 minutes, before cooking.
  • Preheat a gas grill to medium-high heat, about 500° F. Place steaks on lightly greased grill at a 45° to the grates, close lid, and grill 2-3 minutes until bottoms are seared. Rotate 90° and continue to grill 2-3 minutes to create cross-hatch grill marks.
  • Rotate and repeat for the other side, until internal temp reaches the desired doneness. See recipe notes below for safe cooking temps.
  • Remove from grill and let rest 5-10 minutes. Cut steaks across the grain and serve.

1/2 teaspoon adolphs meat tenderizer
1/2 teaspoon Lawry's Seasoned Salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/3 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 tablespoon grated onion
2 cloves garlic, minced

Steps:

  • Take meat and score not all the way through, slice across and then across again to make criss cross pattern.
  • Rub meat with dry rub.

  • Heat grill to medium high.
  • Place meat on hot grill for 4 minutes then turn 1/4 turn for 4 more minutes.
  • Then flip and cook for 4 minutes turn 1/4 turn for 4 more minutes.

  • Slice against the grain very thinly.

1/3 cup lemon juice
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 Tablespoon minced garlic
2 Tablespoons Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt

1 2 pound London Broil Round Steak

Steps:

  • Prepare the steak marinade by adding soy sauce, lemon juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt and pepper to a large gallon bag. Add the steak and let marinade for 2 hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the broiler to high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and put in a baking dish. Broil for 5-6 minutes and then flip to the other side and broil for 3-4 minutes until it reaches an internal temperature of 125 for medium rare.
  • Let the steak rest for 10 minutes and slice

1 ½ pounds top round, London Broil cut
1 tablespoon meat tenderizer
⅓ cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons seasoning salt
¼ teaspoon lemon pepper
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 teaspoons chopped fresh parsley
2 teaspoons tarragon vinegar

Steps:

  • Score top and bottom of meat with a 1 1/2 inch square pattern, and score the side. Sprinkle meat liberally with unseasoned meat tenderizer, then pierce with fork 1/8 inch apart and at least half-way through the meat on both sides. Sprinkle lightly with water, and rub in tenderizer. Place on a plate, cover, and set aside for an hour.
  • In a small bowl, mix together oil, lemon juice, seasoned salt, lemon pepper, garlic, parsley, and tarragon vinegar. Pour marinade over meat, reserving a portion to be used for brushing (Note: DO NOT mix the reserved marinade with the meat; set aside for later). Pour remaining marinade over meat, recover dish and refrigerate for three hours, turning every half hour.
  • Preheat grill for hot heat.
  • Lightly oil grate, and position it 2 inches above the coals. Place meat on grill, and cook for 5 minutes. Turn meat over, brush with marinade, and cook for another 5 minutes.
