MAGIC CRUST CUSTARD PIE

Number Of Ingredients 8

1/4 cup butter, melted but cooled slightly
4 large eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 pinch salt
2 cups milk (I used 1%)
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup all purpose flour
nutmeg, for topping

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Put all the ingredients in a blender or food processor.
  • Blend for 30 seconds.
  • Pour into a 9.5 inch pie plate and sprinkle with nutmeg.
  • Bake for 45 minutes or until set.

This custard pie is similar to chess pie, but prepared in a wonderfully unique way! It's not a very sweet dessert. The texture reminds us of flan without the caramel. If you want something sweeter, we'd suggest swapping the milk for heavy cream and the margarine for butter. Also, cinnamon would be delicious sprinkled on top too....

  • 1. Put all ingredients into a blender. Blend for 30 seconds.
  • 2. Buttering a 9-inch pie plate.
  • 3. Pouring batter into the pie pan.
  • 4. Sprinkle with nutmeg.
  • 5. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
  • 6. The flour will settle to make its own crust.

A PIE UNDER 60 MINUTES ? I got this from Robyn in Hartford and Her Mom used to make this yummy custard. The flour settles to the bottom and creates its own crust. Easy and very good!
