Steps:
- Combine the confectioners' sugar, meringue powder and 3/4 cup water in a large bowl. Mix slowly with an electric mixer until stiff enough to form peaks; the icing should be pure white and thick, but not fluffy and bubbly. If the frosting is over beaten, it will get aerated which makes it harder to work with. If this happens, let the frosting sit to settle, and then use a rubber spatula to vigorously beat and smooth out the frosting.
- Add up to 1 tablespoon food coloring and mix with a rubber spatula until the color is uniform. Gels are best with royal icing. You don't want to thin them with liquid colors. Be careful of adding too much color, which reduces the sheen of the frosting and can break down the consistency of the frosting over a couple of days. Store the icing at room temperature, covered, with plastic wrap on the surface.
PERFECT AND DELICIOUS ROYAL ICING
This frosting will dry like traditional royal icing, but it doesn't suck all the flavor and moisture out of the cookies and it tastes absolutely delicious!

- Whip water and meringue powder on high speed in a large bowl using an electric mixer until fluffy and soft peaks form, 7 to 10 minutes. Gradually add confectioners' sugar, corn syrup, shortening, and vanilla extract while mixing on low speed. Increase speed back to high and beat until well-combined and smooth, about 3 minutes.

EASIEST, MOST DELICIOUS MERINGUE BUTTERCREAM
I have tried every meringue buttercream recipe I could get my hands on over the years. I make it to decorate all our children's (and husband's) cakes and cupcakes. This is my recipe. It is easy, quick, and perfect: perfect for frosting, decorating, and eating. It is delicious. This makes a generous amount. You will not run out when frosting and decorating two 9 inch round cakes.

- Place the egg whites and sugar into a metal bowl and set over a pan filled with about 2 inches of simmering water. Heat, stirring frequently, until the temperature of the egg whites reaches 140 degrees. They will feel very hot to the touch.
- Transfer the heated egg whites and sugar to a large mixing bowl or stand mixer. Mix at high speed (or as high as you can go without egg flying out of the bowl) until they have reached their maximum volume, 5 to 10 minutes. Mix on medium or medium-high speed while pinching off small pieces of butter and throwing them in. Mix in vanilla if using. The buttercream may look like it is breaking down, but keep on mixing and it will come back together.

MARE'S MOST DELICIOUS ICING
this is a very light and fluffy icing..It is like whipped cream but it does not need to be refrigerated..IMPORTANT..to Roosie..you must beat the sugar and butter and Crisco for a full ten minutes..the HOT(not boiling) milk must be added VERY VERY slowly..about 1/8 of a cup at a time all the while beating it well...

- beat for a full 10 minutes( very important) the following 3 ingredients: butter or margarine, crisco, granulated sugar (or use 1 cup packed brown sugar for a maple icing).
- heat milk in microwave till very hot (not boiling).
- while beating. add hot milk to sugar and butter mixture very slowly.(I mean about 1/8 of a cup at a time -- all the while beating it well --
- after all of the milk has been beaten in, beat in vanilla extract.
- this is delicious (the brown sugar icing is wonderful with chocolate cake especially good with butter pecan or spice cake).

This is a four-layer dessert. Use any flavor pudding that you like. The crust is flaky and then it has a layer of cream cheese topped with Cool Whip. Sometimes called "Sex in a pan"..lol

Steps:
- Mix together flour, butter and powdered sugar and press in a 9x13 pan and bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes till golden brown.
- let cool a little.
- Whip powdered sugar, Cool Whip and cream cheese together and spread (gently) on top of first layer (crust is VERY flaky so sometimes it pulls up when you spread the filling).
- To make a pumpkin one: Mix instant pudding with milk and dream whip. Fold in pumpkin, if using. spread over cream cheese layer. then follow with Cool Whip. Top with chopped nuts.
- Beat instant pudding and milk till thick and spread over cheese layer.
- Top with remaining Cool Whip.
