2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons dry sherry
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons rice vinegar
1/2 teaspoon red-pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
3/4 pound boneless New York strip steak, thinly sliced
2 red bell peppers, ribs and seeds removed, thinly sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted
Cooked rice, for serving
Thinly sliced scallions greens (optional), for serving

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sherry, sugar, vinegar, red-pepper flakes, and cornstarch. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil over medium-high. In 2 batches, cook meat, undisturbed, until browned on one side, about 2 minutes per batch. Transfer to a plate.
  • Add 1 teaspoon oil and bell peppers to skillet and cook, stirring, until peppers are crisp-tender, 2 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, 30 seconds. Whisk soy sauce mixture and add to skillet, along with steak. Cook, stirring, until sauce thickens, 1 minute. Stir in sesame seeds. To serve, spoon beef mixture over rice and top with scallion greens, if desired.

6 tablespoons canola oil, divided
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon pepper
6 green onions, thinly sliced
4 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 pound beef top sirloin steak, cut into 1/8-inch strips
Rice or chow mein noodles

Steps:

  • In a large plastic resealable bag, combine the sugar, 4 tablespoons oil, soy sauce, pepper, onions, garlic and sesame seeds. Pour half into a small bowl; set aside. Add beef to remaining marinade; seal bag and toss to coat. Let stand 15 minutes. , Drain and discard marinade from beef. In large skillet or wok, heat remaining oil over high heat; add beef and reserved marinade. Stir-fry until beef is brown and has reached desired doneness. Serve immediately with rice or noodles.

1 pound beef boneless sirloin steak
1/2 cup teriyaki marinade or sauce
3 medium green onions, finely chopped (3 tablespoons)
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 cups hot cooked rice
1 tablespoon sesame seed, toasted if desired

Steps:

  • Cut beef diagonally across grain into 1/8-inch slices. (Beef is easier to cut if partially frozen, about 1 1/2 hours.)
  • Mix teriyaki marinade, onions and garlic in medium glass or plastic bowl. Stir in beef until well coated. Cover and refrigerate 30 minutes.
  • Remove beef mixture from marinade; reserve marinade. Heat oil in 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Cook beef mixture in oil, stirring occasionally, until beef is brown. Stir in marinade. Heat to boiling; boil and stir 1 minute.
  • Serve beef mixture over rice. Sprinkle with sesame seed.

1/2 cup canola oil
1/3 cup sesame seeds
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 garlic cloves, crushed

4 yellow onions, sliced

Steps:

  • Brown Sesame seeds in oil - do not burn. Add all remaining ingredients. Cover meat with marinade mixture. Let sit overnight. Bake at 350 degrees (approx. 20 minutes per pound) with marinade . Baste while cooking. Serve on platter with marinade.

1/4 cup soy sauce
1 green onion, chopped
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 beef tenderloin roast (3 pounds)
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • In a shallow dish, combine the first 5 ingredients. Add tenderloin and turn to coat. Cover; refrigerate for 2 hours, turning several times. , Drain and discard marinade. Brush the beef with honey; sprinkle with sesame seeds. Place in a shallow roasting pan. Bake at 400° for 25 minutes. Cover with foil. Bake 30-35 minutes longer or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a thermometer should read 135°; medium, 140°; medium-well, 145°). Let stand for 10 minutes before slicing.

Sesame Soy Marinated Beef Roast image

This roast has such a good flavor and makes such a wonderful dark brown gravy! Mashed potatoes are a must with this roast. This recipe is one of my favorites from My Great Recipes.

4 -5 lbs beef roast (Chuck or Rump work nicely)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup strong coffee (liquid)
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
3 tablespoons sherry wine or 3 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sesame seeds (Optional for garnish)

Steps:

  • 1. Place roast in dish with cover.
  • 2. Brown sesame seeds in butter about 1 min over medium heat.
  • 3. Add coffee, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and vinegar. Heat to boiling.
  • 4. Pour hot marinade over roast. Marinate 8 hours or overnight, covered.
  • 5. Remove roast from marinade. Brown on all sides over medium high heat. Heat marinade to boiling. Place roast in roasting pan with lid, pour marinade over and cover. Bake at 325 deg F for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. May also be placed in a crock pot and cooked on low for 8 to 10 hours or on high for 4 to 5 hours.
  • 6. Remove roast from baking dish. Strain drippings. Skim off excess fat. Bring to a boil.
  • 7. Mix cornstarch with sherry or water. Add slowly while stirring to drippings, whisk until thickened. Stir in sesame seeds, if desired. Pour some over roast, place remainder in dish for serving with meat. Slice to serve.

1 red bell pepper, cut into 1/2-inch strips
1 yellow bell pepper, cut into 1/2-inch strips
2 celery ribs, cut diagonally into 1/4-inch slices
4 scallions, cut diagonally into 1/4-inch slices (about 1/2 cup)
3 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted

Steps:

  • In a bowl whisk together soy sauce, 2 tablespoons oil, honey, and mustard. Add steak, tossing to coat, and let marinate, covered, at room temperature 15 minutes.
  • In a 10-inch heavy skillet heat remaining tablespoon oil over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking and sauté garlic, red onion, and bell peppers, stirring, until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Add celery and sauté, stirring, 2 minutes. Transfer mixture with a slotted spoon to another bowl.
  • Heat oil remaining in skillet over high heat until hot but not smoking and sauté steak, stirring, until medium-rare, about 2 minutes. Stir in sautéed vegetables, scallions, sesame seeds, and salt and pepper to taste and heat until just heated through.
