Melon liqueur adds flavor and also a festive bright green color to this spring sangria, teeming with tart apples, other green fruits and mint leaves. An obvious choice to serve at your next St. Patrick's Day party, this sangria would also work well in summer for a barbecue or pool party.

One 750-milliliter bottle sparkling white wine
1 1/2 cups soda water
1 cup melon liqueur, such as Midori
1 cup loosely packed fresh mint leaves, large leaves torn into 1/2-inch pieces
2 small green apples, such as Granny Smith, cored and cut into 1/2-inch pieces (about 3 cups)
2 kiwis, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch-thick slices (about 1/2 cup)
1/4 honeydew melon, seeds removed, peeled and cut into 1/2-inch pieces (about 2 cups)

Steps:

  • Stir together the wine, soda water and liqueur in a 3-quart pitcher. Add the mint, apples, kiwis and melon, and cover the pitcher with plastic wrap. Refrigerate the sangria to chill, at least 4 hours up to overnight.
  • To serve, fill 8 to 10 glasses halfway with ice, then pour the sangria and fruit into each glass.

1 orange, cut into small, thin wedges
4 pounds cantaloupe or honeydew melon, seeded and cut into small wedges
3/4 cup natural lemon-lime soda, such as R. W. Knudsen's

Steps:

  • Stir together wine, grapefruit juice, Cointreau, and brandy in a large pitcher. Stir in fruit. Refrigerate at least 1 hour (up to 8 hours). Stir in soda. Serve over ice.

1/2 pint blackberries or raspberries
1 bottle (750 ml) sparkling water

Steps:

  • Stir together all the ingredients except sparkling water in a large pitcher. Refrigerate at least 1 hour or until ready to serve, up to 3 hours. Stir in the sparkling water, and serve over ice.

1/3 cup sugar
1 (750 ml) bottle crisp white wine, such as Sauvignon Blanc or 1 (750 ml) bottle pinot grigio wine
1/4 cup brandy
2 tablespoons triple sec or 2 tablespoons other orange-flavored liqueur
3/4 cup sparkling water or 3/4 cup club soda
ice cube
limes or star fruit, slices (to garnish)
1 small mint sprig (to garnish)

Steps:

  • Stir melon and sugar together in a large pitcher. Let stand for 15 to 30 minutes to draw out the juices.
  • Just before serving, stir wine, brandy, Triple Sec (or other orange liqueur) and sparkling water (or club soda) into the pitcher.
  • Add ice cubes to 6 glasses.
  • Fill the glasses with sangria, spooning some of the fruit into each glass.
  • Garnish each drink with a slice of lime (or starfruit) and a sprig of mint.
  • MAKE AHEAD TIP: prepare through Step 1, cover and refrigerate for up to 1 day. Finish with Step 2 just before serving.

  • 1. Place all the fruit in a large pitcher. Pour in wine, juice and Cointreau. Let rest at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours to blend flavors.
  • 2. Before serving, add the sparkling water. Serve in wine glasses over ice and garnish with mint.

  • Combine all ingredients in a pitcher, and stir, crushing some of the fruit with a spoon.
  • Cover, and refrigerate for at least 12 hours or overnight to let the flavors marry before serving.
  • Use within 4 days of making (like this would be a problem!).

Steps:

  • In a large pitcher or punch bowl, combine the watermelon, cantaloupe, and honeydew balls, Moscato wine, lime juice, and honey and stir well. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, up to overnight.
  • Before serving, pour in the sparkling wine and add the lime wheels.

3 (12 fluid ounce) cans chilled cucumber-flavored sparkling water, or to taste

Steps:

  • Cut strawberries in half and watermelon into chunks, or use a melon baller.
  • Combine strawberries, watermelon, and raspberries in a large bowl. Pour rosé, vermouth, and honey into a large pitcher and stir until honey dissolves. Add 1/2 of the fruit and basil. Place pitcher and remaining fruit in a refrigerator for at least 6 hours.
