I personally think these are the best brownies in the world. Try them, I think you'll agree! To make the brownies rich and buttery, use melted butter instead of the vegetable oil.

½ cup vegetable oil
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
½ cup all-purpose flour
⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the oil, sugar, and vanilla. Beat in eggs. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt; gradually stir into the egg mixture until well blended. Stir in walnuts, if desired. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the brownie begins to pull away from edges of pan. Let cool on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

1/2 cup sugar or 1/4 cup Splenda Sugar Blend for Baking
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons water
2 (4 ounce) ghirardelli 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate candy bars
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2/3 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
0.5 (11 1/2 ounce) package ghirardelli 60% cacao bittersweet chocolate chips
powdered sugar (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 deg. Grease an 8x8 inch square pan.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, butter and water. Cook over medium heat until boiling. Remove from heat and stir in the 2 chocolate bars until melted and smooth. Mix in the eggs and vanilla.
  • Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the chocolate mixture. Spread evenly into the prepared pan. Sprinkle top with chocolate chips.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until brownies set up. Do not overbake! Cool in pan on wire rack (while brownies are cooling, sift powdered sugar over the top if desired).

2 cups chopped pecans, optional
2 cans (16 ounces each) vanilla frosting

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Line two 8-in. square baking pans with foil, letting ends extend up sides; grease foil. In a microwave, melt butter and chocolate; stir until smooth. Cool slightly. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar. Stir in vanilla and chocolate mixture. In another bowl, mix flour and salt; gradually add to chocolate mixture, mixing well. If desired, stir in pecans., Spread into prepared pans. Bake 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack., Lifting with foil, remove brownies from pans. Cut into bars. Using a No. 46 pastry tip, pipe frosting over brownies. Decorate with candy eyes.

3/4 cup butter or 3/4 cup margarine
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups sugar
1 1/3 cups flour
cooking spray
chocolate chips (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and spray a 9x9-inch square pan w/cooking spray.
  • On the stove over medium-low heat, melt chocolate and butter in a medium pot.
  • Mix in eggs, vanilla and sugar until combined.
  • Add in flour, mix well.
  • Pour into prepared baking dish, and sprinkle w/chocolate chips if you want a true chocolate experience.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.
  • Allow to cool, cut into 16 bars.

Steps:

  • Melt the chocolate and butter in a bowl over gently simmering water.
  • Whisk eggs, castor sugar and vanilla essence together until pale and thick and until it has doubled in volume.
  • Add the melted chocolate mixture to the whisked eggs mixture.
  • Fold in the flour and the baking powder and spread in a rectangular tin.
  • Add the m&m's on top of the mixture.
  • Bake for 25 minutes. The brownies will be quite gooey in the middle.
  • Allow them to cool for 20 minutes and cut into squares. If you wrap cling film around them they will keep for 2 days.

2 teaspoons vanilla
2 cups flour
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/3 cups milk chocolate M & M's (divided)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with non stick cooking spray.
  • In a medium sized bowl combine the butter, brown sugar, and sugar and mix until combined.
  • Add in eggs and vanilla into the sugar mixture.
  • In a separate bowl mix together the flour, baking soda,and salt.
  • Add the flour mixture to the sugar mixture and stir until all combined.
  • Fold in 1 cup M & M candies.
  • Place batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top so the batter touches the edges.
  • Press in extra 1/3 cup M & M's into the top of the batter.
  • Bake for about 23-25 minutes or until golden brown. You can also insert a toothpick to see if it comes out clean to test for doneness.
  • Cool completely and cut into squares.
