These burgers are the best on the grill in the summertime. Jam-packed with all kinds of stuff, and no tasteless bread crumbs!

1 ½ pounds lean ground beef
½ onion, finely chopped
½ cup shredded Colby Jack or Cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 egg
1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon crushed dried rosemary
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat a grill for high heat.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, onion, cheese, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, egg, onion soup mix, garlic, garlic powder, parsley, basil, oregano, rosemary, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 patties.
  • Grill patties for 5 minutes per side on the hot grill, or until well done. Serve on buns with your favorite condiments.

"Burgers with Caramelized Onions" and Gorgonzola has been written up as the best in the Bay Area by The San Francisco Chronicle. Recipe by Jesse Cool of Jesse's CoolEatz." The goodness starts with the quality of the meat, Montana Legend natural Angus Beef, but the fact that it oozes and drips with juicy caramelized onions, sauteed mushrooms, avocado & a combination of Gorgonzola cheese sends this over the top. "This is the time to indulge in luscious burgers." I tweaked it a bit as I was unable to get Montana Legend Angus beef so I bought brisket (first cut) to make the burgers. Also added sauteed mushrooms and made a horseradish-type mayonnaise.

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 -2 medium yellow onion, peeled and sliced thin
salt & pepper, to taste
1 lb thickly sliced mushroom
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon fresh thyme leave
1 fresh lemon, juice of (2 squeezes)
3/4 cup brandy
2 lbs ground beef brisket
salt and pepper
4 ounces gorgonzola
1 avocado, mashed
4 slices of ripe tomatoes
hamburger bun with sesame seeds
catsup
mustard
mayonnaise or horseradish mayonnaise
pickle
pimento cheese
sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • CARAMELIZED ONIONS:.
  • In a large skillet, over medium heat, warm the olive oil.
  • Saute the onions, salt & pepper , stirring occasionally until they are very soft and brown. (15-20 minutes).
  • SAUTEED MUSHROOMS:.
  • In a large skillet, over medium heat, warm the olive oil.
  • Saute the mushrooms, minced garlic, fresh thyme leaves, brandy, salt & pepper, for 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Add 2 squeezes of lemon juice when they are finished.
  • Mash the avocado, to make it spreadable.
  • BURGERS:.
  • Over a grill or in skillet, cook the burgers to your liking.
  • Put one ounce of gorgonzola on top of each burger and let it melt slightly.
  • On the bottom side of the bun, spread the avocado.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Place the burger and gorgonzola on top.
  • Mound lots of onions & mushrooms on top.
  • Put the upper half of the bun on top.
  • Enjoy!
