Best Paleo Burgers {with Buns & Burger Sauce!} image

These classic paleo burgers taste just like the real deal but are made with better-for-you ingredients! Juicy grass-fed beef patties, grain free buns, a dairy and soy free burger sauce and thick cut bacon make these the best loaded paleo burgers you'll try.

5 Paleo Burger Buns*
1/3 cup paleo mayo
2 Tbsp mustard
2 Tbsp paleo ketchup
1 Tbsp coconut aminos
1 tbsp dill pickle relish
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Hot sauce (to taste (optional))
1 Tbsp avocado oil
1 1/4 lbs grass-fed ground beef (80% lean)
2 cloves garlic (minced (optional))
Coarse sea salt and black pepper
6 slices bacon ((I used thick-cut) cooked until crisp)
Sliced Dill Pickles (no added sugar)
Thinly sliced red onion
Thinly sliced tomatoes
Lettuce

Steps:

  • Have the burger buns baked, cooled and sliced before beginning.*
  • Cook the bacon to preference first and set aside. To make the sauce, whisk together all ingredients in a medium bowl until well combined. Adjust any seasonings to taste and set aside.
  • Shape your burgers. It's important not to overwork the meat while shaping so the burgers stay juicy! I don't like adding much more than sea salt and pepper to my burgers - a little minced garlic is an optional add-in. Shape 5 patties (1/4 lb each) so they're about 1/4-1/2" thicker around the perimeter than the inside - this will help prevent the burgers from puffing up in the middle. Mine were about 3/4" on the outside. Sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper as you shape them.
  • The burgers can be grilled or pan-fried. Preheat your grill to high heat or skillet (or grill pan) to high heat and brush with oil. Cook for a total of 5 minutes for medium rare and 6-7 minutes for medium. The total time will depend on the exact thickness of your patties and the heat of your stovetop or grill. Use a meat thermometer to be more exact about the timing for your desired doneness.
  • Time to layer your burgers! Start off with a slather of sauce on the bottom bun, followed by lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, bacon, the burger patty, and more sauce. Feel free to layer the burgers however you like, but I recommend using the sauce on both the top and bottom buns.
  • Serve the burgers right away and enjoy!

5 Minute Fluffy Flourless Paleo Hamburger Buns image

Extra fluffy and easy to make paleo hamburger buns will leave you wondering why you ever loved the grain filled life in the first place. These grain free hamburger buns are yeast free and only take 5 minute to prepare!

3/4 cup cassava flour (Anthony's Goods brand for best results.)
3 tablespoons psyllium husk powder
4 large eggs
1/2 cup apple sauce
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
egg wash (to make the egg wash, just whip one egg.)
sesame seeds (for sprinkling on top)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a food processor combine all the ingredients for the hamburger buns. Puree until the dough is smooth.
  • Divide the dough into four equal parts and shape into a round ball (if the dough is sticking, coat your hands in water and then shape the dough). Pat the round buns down into a dome shape. Brush the buns with egg wash and then sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  • Bake on 400F for about 22-25 minutes until golden brown.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 F.
  • In a large bowl, mix coconut flour, almond flour, baking powder and sea salt together with a fork.
  • In a separate bowl, blend eggs and coconut oil.
  • Pour egg mixture into flour mixture and combine completely.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and grease the paper lightly with coconut oil.
  • Pour the batter onto the oiled parchment paper to make eight (3-inch diameter) pools.
  • Bake for 10 minutes.
