This is our family favorite.

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
¼ cup butter, melted
3 bananas, mashed

Steps:

  • Grease and flour two 7x3 inch loaf pans. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In one bowl, whisk together flour, soda, salt, and sugar. Mix in slightly beaten eggs, melted butter, and mashed bananas. Stir in nuts if desired. Pour into prepared pans.
  • Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour, or until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

This is an old recipe that belonged to my mother. I've been making this bread since I was a teenager. At a candy striper bake sale a doctor bought this bread and said that this was the best banana bread that he had tasted.

1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
¼ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
⅔ cup white sugar
⅓ cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 cup mashed banana
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Grease an 8x4 inch loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar. Add butter, eggs, nuts, and mashed banana. Beat until well blended.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and bake about 1 hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the loaf comes out clean.

½ cup peanut butter
2 bananas, mashed
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a 5x9 inch loaf pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs; beat well. Stir in peanut butter, bananas, flour and baking soda until blended. Fold in walnuts. Pour into prepared pan.
  • Bake at 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) for 70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Remove to a wire rack to cool.

3 cups shredded Cheddar cheese, divided

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Grease a large cast-iron skillet.
  • Whisk cornmeal, baking powder, and salt in a bowl; beat sour cream and eggs into cornmeal mixture until thoroughly combined. Stir cream-style corn, onion, vegetable oil, and jalapeno peppers into batter.

nonstick cooking spray, for greasing
1 stick unsalted butter
1 cup light brown sugar, plus more as needed
1 large egg
2 cups ripe banana, (about 4 large bananas)
½ cup full fat sour cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 ½ cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ cup dark chocolate chunk
1 tablespoon turbinado sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray. Line the pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the long sides so it will be easy to lift out the bread, and spray again.
  • Add the butter to a medium nonstick pan over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the butter turns amber brown and smells nutty, about 3-4 minutes. Watch carefully so the butter does not burn. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside to cool for 10-15 minutes.
  • Add cooled brown butter and brown sugar to a large bowl. Beat with an electric hand mixer on medium speed until evenly combined, about 1 minute. Add the egg and beat until light and fluffy, 3-4 minutes.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla and mix with a rubber spatula until well combined.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, baking soda, and cinnamon.
  • Alternate adding the flour mixture and banana mixture to the butter mixture, starting and ending with flour and folding with a rubber spatula between each addition until just incorporated. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth with an offset spatula, then sprinkle the turbinado sugar on top.
  • Bake the banana bread until golden brown and a toothpick or cake tester inserted in the center comes out clean, 60-70 minutes. Set the loaf pan on a wire rack to cool for at least 1 hour, then lift out the banana bread and slice.
  • Enjoy!

  • In a bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Reduce the mixer speed to low, and add the flour mixture ¼ cup at a time. Continue beating until well incorporated. You will have a very dry batter.
  • Remove a third of the batter and set aside in a separate bowl. Add the mashed bananas to the remaining batter in the mixer bowl and continue beating until the batter is fluffy and mixed. Pour the banana batter into the prepared pan.
