A very interesting appetizer pizza. Sounds strange, but everyone will love the unique combination of fragrant pears and distinctive Gorgonzola.

1 (16 ounce) package refrigerated pizza crust dough
4 ounces sliced provolone cheese
1 Bosc pear, thinly sliced
2 ounces chopped walnuts
2 ½ ounces Gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
  • Place pizza crust dough on a medium baking sheet. Layer with Provolone cheese. Top cheese with Bosc pear slices. Sprinkle with walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven 8 to 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted and crust is lightly browned. Remove from heat. Top with chives and slice to serve.

1 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup uncooked quick-cooking oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup butter
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 ripe pear, peeled,cored and thinly sliced
1/4 cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Grease a 9 inch pie pan.
  • In a small bowl, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon.
  • Stir well.
  • Stir in butter with a fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Press 2/3 of the mixture into the bottom of the pie pan and bake for 15 minutes Remove from oven.
  • Beat the cream cheese with the granulated sugar, egg and vanilla until well blended Spread over the baked crust.
  • Top with pear slices arranged in a decorative circular pattern and sprinkle with the remaining crumb mixture.
  • Return to the oven and bake an additional 30 minutes Remove from oven, cool and refrigerate at least two hours before serving.

1 lb pizza dough
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons sugar
cooking spray
2 tablespoons honey
2 large ripe pears, cored and sliced
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese
2 tablespoons raisins
2 -4 tablespoons coarsely chopped walnuts

Steps:

  • Add 2 tablespoons sugar to pizza dough.
  • Spray pizza pan with cooking spray and spread dough out, making rim around the edge.
  • Drizzle dough with honey. Arrange pears on dough; spray with cooking spray and sprinkle with remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  • Sprinkle blue cheese, raisins, and walnuts over pears.
  • Bake at 425 until crust is browned, 15 to 20 minutes.

  • Make the Pizza Dough: Add the warm water and tablespoon of sugar to a medium bowl and whisk together. Add the yeast and don't mix - let sit for 5 minutes. It should be kind of creamy and foamy looking. Stir in the flour, olive oil, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla until a shaggy dough forms. Flour your counter and dump the dough out. Lightly flour the dough and begin kneading it - knead it for 5 minutes. Set a timer! Once you're done kneading it, spray the same bowl (no need to clean it out) with nonstick spray and shape the dough into a ball. Set it in the bowl and cover with a kitchen towel. Let rise for 1 hour.
  • Make the Streusel: While the dough rises, make the streusel. Blend all streusel ingredients together in a food processor until crumbly and clumping together. Set aside.
  • Make the Filling: While the dough rises, make the filling. Rinse and slice your pears into 1/4 to 1/2 " thick slices. Add all filling ingredients to a medium or large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Set a timer for 4 minutes - cook the pears, gently stirring with a silicone spatula. Once the time is up, turn off the heat and remove the pan from the burner. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F.
  • Assemble the Pizza: Once the dough has risen, plop it into the greased pan and press it out and up the sides a bit. Spoon the pears (leaving behind most of the excess liquid) over the crust and sprinkle the streusel on top. It may seem like a lot of streusel but use it all - trust!
