Maura Egan and Christine Muhlke developed this recipe in 2004, around the time of the Olympic Games in Athens, after talking with Shane Hamman, then the No. 1 weight lifter in America, capable of squatting more than 1,000 pounds. He ate two for lunch, amid his 5,000 calorie day. It's pretty delicious.

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 ounces ground beef, like chuck
1 egg yolk, beaten
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
2 to 3 slices sharp Cheddar cheese
1 sesame bun, halved and toasted if desired
Pickles
Ketchup and mustard

Steps:

  • In large bowl, combine beef, egg, paprika and salt. Mix well and form 1 large patty.
  • Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add patty and cook 4 minutes; turn over and top with cheese. Continue to cook an additional 3 to 4 minutes for medium rare.
  • Place the burger cheese side up on bun and top with pickles, ketchup and/or mustard. Place other bun half on top and serve.

1kg minced beef
300g breadcrumbs
140g extra-mature or mature cheddar , grated
4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 small bunch parsley , finely chopped
2 eggs , beaten
split burger buns
sliced tomatoes
red onion slices
lettuce , tomato sauce, coleslaw, wedges or fries

Steps:

  • Crumble the mince in a large bowl, then tip in the breadcrumbs, cheese, Worcestershire sauce, parsley and eggs with 1 tsp ground pepper and 1-2 tsp salt. Mix with your hands to combine everything thoroughly.
  • Shape the mix into 12 burgers. Chill until ready to cook for up to 24 hrs. Or freeze for up to 3 months. Just stack between squares of baking parchment to stop the burgers sticking together, then wrap well. Defrost overnight in the fridge before cooking.
  • To cook the burgers, heat grill to high. Grill burgers for 6-8 mins on each side until cooked through. Meanwhile, warm as many buns as you need in a foil-covered tray below the grilling burgers. Let everyone assemble their own, served with their favourite accompaniments.

1 Tbsp. LEA & PERRINS Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp. black pepper
8 KRAFT Singles
8 lettuce leaves
2 tomatoes, each cut into 4 slices
8 red onion slices
8 sesame seed hamburger buns
1/2 cup SIMPLY HEINZ Ketchup

Steps:

  • Heat grill to medium heat.
  • Mix first 4 ingredients just until blended.
  • Shape into 8 (1/2-inch-thick) patties.
  • Grill 5 to 6 min. on each side or until done (160ºF). Top with Singles; grill 1 min. or until melted.
  • Place lettuce, tomatoes and onions on bottom halves of buns; cover with burgers, ketchup and tops of buns.

My friends call me the "cheeseburger queen" because I would eat one every day if I could. I love to experiment with different ways to make my burgers and came up with this one especially for RSC # 16.

1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 lb Italian sausage, hot preferred
1 egg
1/4 cup corn, flake crumbs
1/4 cup barbecue sauce, divided use
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce, divided use
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon white pepper
4 slices swiss cheese
4 slices white onions
4 slices tomatoes
8 leaves baby arugula
4 hamburger buns
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 teaspoon dried basil

Steps:

  • Heat outdoor grill to med-high heat. You can also use a George Foreman grill or cook the burgers as you normally do.
  • Lightly oil grate, if using.
  • In a large bowl, beat egg. Mix hamburger, sausage, cornflake crumbs, 2 Tblsp. BBQ sauce, salt, and pepper until just combined. Divide into 4 portions and shape into patties. Set aside.
  • Mix 1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/4 cup BBQ sauce, and 1/2 teaspoons dried basil in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Cook burgers 3-4 minutes on each side (or until done to your liking). Put cheese on burgers and melt, if desired.
  • Lightly toast buns on grill or under broiler. Spread an even layer of sauce on both sides of buns, top with burger patty, sliced onion, sliced tomato, and 2 leaves of baby arugula. Cover with top bun. Serve with a slice of dill pickle and fries or potato chips, and enjoy!
