Steps:

  • In 4- to 5-quart slow cooker, place potatoes, chicken broth and butter.
  • Cover; cook on High heat setting 4 hours to 4 hours 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender.
  • Add remaining ingredients except milk. Mash, crush or smash potatoes using potato masher, or beat with electric mixer on low speed until well blended. Do not overmix. Stir in enough milk for desired creamy consistency. Cover and keep warm on Low or Warm heat setting until serving time, up to 2 hours. Stir before serving.

1 tablespoon minced garlic, or to taste
3 cubes chicken bouillon
1 (8 ounce) container sour cream
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

Steps:

  • In a large pot of lightly salted boiling water, cook the potatoes, garlic, and bouillon until potatoes are tender but firm, about 15 minutes. Drain, reserving water. In a bowl, mash potatoes with sour cream and cream cheese, adding reserved water as needed to attain desired consistency.

5 pounds potatoes, peeled
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
½ cup half-and-half, or more as needed
2 egg whites, slightly beaten
⅓ cup chopped fresh chives
2 teaspoons onion powder
nonstick cooking spray
salt and ground black pepper to taste
¾ cup butter, divided

Steps:

  • Place potatoes into a large pot and cover with salted water; bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until fork tender, 20 to 25 minutes. Drain water and place pot with potatoes back over medium heat until potatoes are dry, 1 to 2 minutes.

I love that I can make them ahead, instead of trying to mash potatoes, make gravy, and carve turkey or roast all at once! I can make a double batch early in the day, toss them into the crockpot, and by the time dinner is served, the potatoes are ready and waiting! I usually skip the Ranch dressing, since I don't think it would taste good with my gravy. Time doesn't include time to peel, cook, and mash potatoes (usually takes me around 30-40 minutes)
