Spicy Edamame image

A unique twist to traditional edamame. We had this at a restaurant and found oyster sauce is the key to this dish!

1 (10 ounce) package frozen shelled edamame
2 tablespoons sesame oil
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, or to taste

Steps:

  • Heat a saute pan over high heat. Add edamame, sesame oil, vinegar, oyster sauce, sriracha sauce, and sesame seeds. Cook, stirring frequently, until sauce coats all pods evenly, 3 to 5 minutes. Let cool for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes before serving.

1 tablespoon kosher salt, plus more for boiling
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar
1 lb frozen edamame, in the pod (green soy beans)
1 lemons, sliced into 8 wedges

Steps:

  • Heat the salt, chili powder, and pepper flakes in a small dry skillet set over medium heat, stirring until hot and aromatic, about 3 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the sugar. Set aside. Boil the edamame pods in salted water until tender, about 8 minutes. Drain in a colander and pat dry. Toss the edamame pods with the chili-salt and serve warm with lemon wedges to squeeze on top.
