1/4 gallon apple cider
1/2 cup dark rum
1/2 cup cinnamon schnapps
1 Granny Smith apple, peeled, cut into large chunks
1/2 lemon, juiced

Steps:

  • Mix together the cider, rum, and schnapps in a large pitcher. Add the apples to a small bowl and toss them with the lemon juice. Thread the diced apples onto skewers. Pour the spiked cider into glasses filled with ice, then garnish with an apple skewer and serve.

Steps:

  • Mix 1 stick softened butter, 1/4 cup light brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon each ground nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves until combined. Put the butter on a piece of plastic wrap and roll into a 1-inch-thick log; wrap and chill 1 hour. Pour 3 cups apple cider into a slow cooker; cover and heat on high for 1 hour. Divide 1 cup bourbon among 6 glasses. Top each with hot cider and a slice of the spiced butter.
  • If you don't have a slow cooker, keep these drinks warm in a saucepan on the stovetop over low heat.

4 slices red apple, cored and cut in half

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan, combine the apple cider, cinnamon sticks, lemon zest and nutmeg. Insert a clove into each apple slice; add to cider., Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 1 minute. Discard lemon zest strip. Ladle into mugs.

16 cups (1 gallon) apple cider
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1 teaspoon allspice
Pinch grated nutmeg
2 teaspoons whole cloves
1 orange
Cinnamon sticks, for garnish
2 cups bourbon, optional

Steps:

  • In a large pot over medium heat, add the apple cider. Stir in the brown sugar, allspice and nutmeg until the sugar is dissolved and bring to a low boil.
  • Stick the pointy ends of the cloves into the orange so that just the buds of the cloves are visible. The entire orange should be covered with the cloves.
  • Add the orange to the cider and reduce the heat to simmer. Cover and continue cooking for 20 minutes.
  • Serve in warm mugs with a cinnamon stick garnish. For adults, add bourbon to the cider.

24 cinnamon sticks
24 cardamom pods
12 whole cloves
12 strips (2 inches wide) orange zest (from about 3 oranges)
1 gallon apple cider

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a pot. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, and cook until fragrant, about 5 minutes. Cider can be kept warm over very low heat. Strain before serving, reserving cinnamon sticks for garnish if desired.

Believe it or not, the best beer batter isn't made with beer! It's actually done with sparkling apple cider, which produces a light, beautifully crispy, and very flavorful coating. Not to mention it's super easy.

4 (8 ounce) skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
1 teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 pinch cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup self-rising flour
1 ¼ cups sparkling apple cider
1 quart canola oil for frying
⅓ cup Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons seasoned rice vinegar
1 teaspoon hot sauce
1 pinch white sugar, or to taste

Steps:

  • Cut each chicken breast into 6 finger-sized strips, and transfer into a mixing bowl.
  • Season with kosher salt, black pepper, and cayenne and toss until evenly coated. Sprinkle the all-purpose flour over top and shake the bowl to coat the strips. Toss until all the surfaces are completely coated, and then transfer onto a rack or plate. Place in the refrigerator, uncovered, for at least 10 minutes, or until ready to fry.
  • Meanwhile, whisk self-rising flour and sparkling apple cider together in a mixing bowl to form a thin batter. Batter should be somewhere between a thin pancake batter and a crepe batter, but still thick enough to coat the back of a spoon. Place in the refrigerator to rest for 5 to 10 minutes before using.
  • Mix Dijon mustard, vinegar, hot sauce, and sugar together for dipping sauce in a bowl.
  • Heat oil in a deep-fryer or large saucepan to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Dip each chicken finger into the batter to coat. Deep-fry in batches in the hot oil until golden brown, crispy, and no longer pink in the centers, 3 to 4 1/2 minutes. Drain on paper towels and serve immediately with dipping sauce.

1 (3 pound) whole chicken
½ cup dry ranch dressing mix
2 tablespoons granulated garlic
2 tablespoons poultry seasoning
1 tablespoon ground paprika
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil, or as needed
⅔ cup apple cider, divided
1 medium onion, cut into wedges
1 tablespoon minced garlic
⅓ cup apple cider
1 tablespoon dry ranch dressing mix

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Rinse chicken and remove insides; dry off with a paper towel.
  • Combine ranch dressing mix, granulated garlic, poultry seasoning, paprika, and cayenne for rub in a bowl.
  • Rub chicken with oil. Put 1/3 cup apple cider, onion wedges, and fresh garlic inside the chicken, using onions to block the opening. Sprinkle rub all over using a teaspoon; be sure to coat legs and under wings.
  • Place chicken on a stand-up roasting rack and set into a deep baking dish. Pour in remaining apple cider and ranch dressing mix.
  • Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and continue to bake until no longer pink in the center, the juices run clear, and an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh, near the bone, reads 165 degrees F (74 degrees C), about 30 minutes. Remove from the oven, cover tightly with foil, and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
