HEALTHY STRAWBERRY BLISS BALLS (NUT FREE, VEGAN, PALEO)

Healthy Strawberry Bliss Balls (Nut Free, Vegan, Paleo) image

These strawberry bliss balls are perfect for a healthy snack and lunch boxes - sweet and filling enough to satisfy any sweet craving. Whether you call them strawberry bliss balls, energy balls / bites or protein strawberry balls - they are one of the best healthy snacks to have on hand.

Provided by HealthyTasteOfLife

Categories     Dessert     Snack

Number Of Ingredients 9

7 large medjool dates, (pitted)
6 large strawberries (frozen or fresh)
1/3 cup strawberry slices (freeze dried)
3/4 cup whole tigernuts ((or tigernut flour - 1 cup))
1/4 cup sunflower seeds (raw or slightly toasted)
2 tbsp hemp seeds (raw)
1 tbsp flax seeds (ground)
1 tsp maple butter (maple sugar, or maple syrup)
3/4 cup freeze dried strawberries (powder) (for coating)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients. Soak the dates in warm water for 10 minutes if they look dry.Grind the freeze dried strawberries for coating the bliss balls.
  • So first you add the dry ingredients that need to be chopped (tigernuts (if you're using slices), the seeds and the freeze dried strawberries) and at the end you add the mushy ones. You will need food processor not a blender. Use a cheap food processor with glass bowl - if you're trying to stay away from plastic. You need it to break everything in small pieces but without making a gooey mush.
  • Once the dry ingredients look like a coarse flour, transfer the mixture in another bowl.
  • Add the soft dates, maple butter (or syrup), fresh or frozen strawberries (let them thaw for 10 minutes before adding).
  • Mix for a few minutes until it looks like a paste. Add on top the dry mixture and pulse again.
  • You'll know the mixture is ready when it moves past the crumbly stage and begins to clump to the sides of the food processor. Use a spatula to scrap the walls if needed.
  • Then form the bliss balls by hand. Roll tablespoonfuls of the mixture into snack-sized balls.
  • Tip: I prefer to chill these healthy bliss balls in the fridge for at least an hour before rolling them in freeze dried strawberries (powder), it makes them much easier to handle.
  • Make strawberry powder from freeze dried strawberries by using a coffee grinder.
  • Then pour the crushed strawberries onto a plate or flat surface and roll the balls in the powder to coat.
  • Return them to a prepared tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  • Serve the strawberry bliss balls straight from the fridge or store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Enjoy!

STRAWBERRY BLISS BALLS

Strawberry Bliss Balls image

A healthy strawberry ball recipe, these energy bites are low in sugar and pretty in pink!

Provided by My Kids Lick The Bowl

Categories     Snack

Time 2h15m

Number Of Ingredients 7

200 g strawberries (1 cup, 12 strawberries)
150 g oats (1.5 cups)
140 g sunflower seeds (1 cup)
50 g desiccated coconut (0.5 cups )
1 Tbsp maple syrup
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 Tbsp desiccated coconut (For coating the strawberry bliss balls.)

Steps:

  • Watch the quick recipe video before you get started. Please note in the video I use coconut flour instead of desiccated coconut and don't use maple syrup. I also no longer suggest coconut oil in this recipe as it works just fine without it, but you should still get a good idea on how to make the recipe.
  • If you wish to see step by step photos of each image you will find these at the top of the blog post.
  • Prepare your strawberries, i.e. remove the tops and weigh or measure them. In the recipe I use 200g, this is a rounded cup of sliced strawberries, if you don't cut up your strawberries it may be closer to 1 and a half or 2 cups.
  • Place the strawberries and all the other ingredients in a food processor. Whiz, whizz, whizz, it will take some time, be patient. Eventually it becomes a fine paste and come together as a rollable dough.
  • At this point, you may need to refrigerate the mx for a short time (30 mins) this will just make it easier to form the strawberry balls. If you have used frozen berries you can probably step this step.
  • Use a tablespoon to scoop portions. A tip here is to use a damp tablespoon, this stops the mix sticking to the spoon.
  • Using your hands roll the strawberry ball dough into smooth balls. Damp hands will stop the mix sticking to you.
  • Roll the balls in desiccated coconut. I do this by putting a few tablespoons of deisccated coconut in a small bowl, and rolling each ball in the coconut to cover it.
  • Refrigerate for 2 hrs or overnight before serving.

  • In the bowl of a food processor or a high-powered blender (I used my Vitamix), combine all of the ingredients except for the freeze-dried strawberries. Pulse for about 1-2 minutes, until the mixture starts to break down. It will first become powdery and will stick together, but still be crumbly.
  • Keep processing until the oils start to release a bit and the mixture sticks together easily – just be careful not to over process or you’ll have nut butter. If your mixture seems a little dry, you can use a little extra coconut oil to help it come together. Once the mixture is sticking together well, pulse in the crushed freeze-dried, just to incorporate them. You can also just stir them in.
  • Use a small cookie scoop (I use this one) or a tablespoon scoop to divide the mixture into equal pieces. Use your hands to roll into balls and place on a plate.
