2 teaspoons cayenne pepper
2 teaspoons ground black pepper
kosher salt to taste

Steps:

  • Combine strawberry preserves, tomato puree, vinegar, sugar, chili powder, red pepper flakes, cumin, cayenne, and black pepper in a medium pot. Whisk to remove any lumps.
  • Bring strawberry mixture to a slow simmer over medium-low heat. Cook until sauce evenly coats the back of a metal spoon and is glossy, about 30 minutes, whisking frequently; never allow the bottom of the pot to scorch. Season with kosher salt.

Coarse salt
4 cups ice
2 cups hulled and halved fresh strawberries, plus 2 strawberries, hulled and thinly sliced for garnish, optional
2 cups cubed fresh watermelon
4 ounces silver tequila
2 ounces fresh lime juice
2 ounces triple sec
1/2 Fresno chile, diced, seeded or unseeded depending on the spice level you want

Steps:

  • Dip half of the rim of 4 margarita glasses in the simple syrup, then dip in the coarse salt. Set aside.
  • In a blender, combine the ice, halved strawberries, watermelon, tequila, lime juice, triple sec, simple syrup and Fresno chile. Blend until frothy. Pour into your prepared margarita glasses, garnish each with a thinly sliced strawberry if desired and enjoy immediately!

1-1/2 pounds fresh strawberries, hulled
2 teaspoons grated lemon zest
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 to 3 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 package (1-3/4 ounces) powdered fruit pectin
3 cups sugar

Steps:

  • Place half of the strawberries in a food processor; process until pureed. Chop remaining strawberries., In a large saucepan, combine strawberries, lemon zest, lemon juice, peppers and salt. Stir in pectin. Bring to a full rolling boil over high heat, stirring constantly. Stir in sugar; return to a full rolling boil. Boil and stir 1 minute., Remove from heat; skim off foam. Ladle hot mixture into five hot half-pint jars, leaving 1/4 in. headspace. Remove air bubbles and adjust headspace, if necessary, by adding hot mixture. Wipe rims. Center lids on jars; screw on bands until fingertip tight., Place jars into canner with simmering water, ensuring that they are completely covered with water. Bring to a boil; process for 10 minutes.
