MACKEREL FISH (BANGDA) TAWA FRY RECIPE

Bangda fish marinated with spices like red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, turmeric powder are shallow fry on a tawa or pan till crisp golden

4-5 Indian Mackerel (bangda) fish.
2 teaspoon ginger garlic paste.
1 teaspoon red chilli powder(paprika)
1 teaspoon Cumin powder.
1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder.
1/3 teaspoon Turmeric powder.
1/3 teaspoon Turmeric powder.
1 teaspoon lemon juice.
3 - 4 Curry leaves
3 teaspoon Cooking oil ( olive oil )

Steps:

  • First cut all the fins and tails of the fishes. Then cut head along with the eyes.
  • Remove all the inner organs and with the help of finger tips clean inner belly from any dirt.
  • Wash them finely for 3 to 4 times.
  • Make 3 to 4 deep long incision on both sides of the fish.
  • If using curry leaves then fry them and cool down.
  • Making the marination
  • Take a mixing bowl and add ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, lemon juice, cooking oil and salt. Mix everything to make a paste
  • Now apply and coat this to the fishes on on both sides nicely so that it enter the incision parts as well.
  • Cover and keep marinated for at least 60 minutes
  • Fry the bangda
  • Heat 1 teaspoon oil in a tawa or pan in high flame for 1 minute. This will make the Tawa non sticky
  • Lower the flame and place the fish over the Tawa carefully one by one.
  • Fry them for one minute and flip to another side and fry.
  • The fish slowly become crisp golden on both sides.
  • Fry them 3 to 4 minutes per sides till completely cooked.
  • Remove and serve.

500 gms Fish ((cut and cleaned))
1 cup Whole wheat flour ((for coating the fish))
2 tbsp Mustard oil
1 tsp red chili powder
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp Raw mango powder ((amchur))
Salt (to taste)
oil ((for shallow fry))

Steps:

  • In a bowl, add mustard oil,1/2 tsp red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well.
  • Now add fish and coat each fish nicely from all the sides with the masala. Marinate the fish for 20 minutes.
  • In another plate, take whole wheat flour,1/2 tsp red chilli powder, dry mango powder and salt. Mix well.
  • Coat each fish in the whole wheat flour mixture properly.
  • Heat a tawa or a pan and brush it with some oil.
  • Add each and every piece of fish on tawa and let it cook on low-medium heat till the fish becomes crispy on one side.
  • Turn the fish on other side and let it cook for few minutes.
  • Enjoy hot with Coriander-mint chutney or as a side dish

8 Pieces Fish ((cut into slices))
2 tsp Ginger Garlic paste
1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
2 tsp Coriander Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tsp Lemon Juice
Salt (As required)
2 tbsp Corn flour
Oil (For Shallow Frying)

Steps:

  • Take a bowl and add everything mentioned above except fish, Corn Flour and oil. Add enough water to make a paste.
  • Apply paste on the both the sides of the fish pieces.Let it marinate for at least 20 mins.
  • Before frying, in a plate corn corn flour. Place the fish pieces and coat with corn flour. The coating need not be thick. Let the pieces rest on another plate for 5 minutes.
  • Marinated fish can be either deep fried or roasted over a tawa. I prefer roasting over tawa. Heat a tawa and spread a tbsp of oil all over it. The tawa should be hot. Only then the masala will stick to the fish.
  • When the tawa is hot, place the pieces and drizzle some oil over it. Cook for 1 min on one side and then flip it.
  • Cook it for another 1 min and reduce the flame to medium. Roast it for a min on both sides and transfer to a serving plate.
  • Spicy and Crispy fish fry is ready to be served.

700 gm fish fillets (without fat)
2 tablespoon garlic paste
1 tablespoon ginger paste
2 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoon Vinegar
2 teaspoon crushed red chili
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
salt to taste
oil for shallow frying
chaat masala
lemon wedges
salad leaves

Steps:

  • Sprinkle salt on fish pieces.
  • Leave aside for 10 minutes then wash and strain excess water.
  • Now pour vinegar and lemon juice in a bowl.Add turmeric, chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, black pepper, cumin powder, garlic paste and salt in it.
  • Mix well.
  • Put this mixture on the fish fillets. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  • Heat oil in a shallow pan for frying fish.
  • Fry fish for 4-5 minutes on each side or until fish flakes easily with a fork.
  • Transfer into a platter. Sprinkle chaat masala over it.
  • Garnish with salad leaves and lemon wedges. Tawa Fish is ready to serve. ENJOY!!

Steps:

  • To begin making Hariyali Tawa Fish Fry Recipe, get prep with all the ingredients first. You can clean the fish fillets.
  • In a blender, blend coriander leaves, onions, mint leaves, green chillies, garlic cloves & gram flour together with a little water to make a thick paste.
  • Now take all the fish pieces in a wide mixing bowl. Add the ground masala paste, yogurt, lemon juice, salt, garam masala powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and mix everything well.
  • Make sure that fish pieces are coated properly with this mixture. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.
  • Once the fish is marinated, heat up some mustard oil on a shallow frying pan and place the marinated fish on it along with the masala. Fry it until it is cooked from both sides.

Fish - 3 (I used paarai fish)
Coconut Oil - 4 to 5 tblspn
For Marination:
Chilli Powder - 1 tblspn
Kashmiri Chilli Powder - 2 tblspn
Turmeric Powder / Manjal Podi - 1 tsp
Coriander Powder - 1.5 tblspn
Pepper Powder - 2 tsp
Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tblspn
Garam Masala Powder - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 tblspn finely chopped
Curry leaves - 2 tblspn finely chopped
Lemon Juice - 1 tblspn
Water as needed
Salt to taste

Steps:

  • Clean fish pieces, make deep slashes in it.
  • Mix all the ingredients for marination and add very little water and make it into a thick paste.
  • Apply masala all over the fish, deep into the slits and slashes.
  • Leave this to marinate for 30 mins.
  • Heat coconut oil in a pan, place fish over it. Cover it and cook on a medium low heat for 5 to 6 mins. Now flip over and cook on high heat for 5 more mins. Now the fish is done.
  • Serve with lemon wedges and onion rings.

Chaat Masala

Steps:

  • Marinate the fish in salt, tumeric and lime juice for about 10-15 minutes. Coat it nicely, give it a nice rub with the masalas.
  • Now heat oil on a non-stick tawa (flat pan). It is Tawa Fry Fish, so got to use the tawa, right?
  • Cook the fish for 5-7 minutes on each side on medium heat.
  • That's it. the fish is done.
  • Now serve it with onion rings. Drizzle some lemon juice and chaat masala.
  • Eat it with your favorite drink. Mine is a Scotch. ;-)
