GRILLED THAI CHILE GARLIC SHRIMP

Grilled Thai Chile Garlic Shrimp image

Provided by Food Network

Time 25m

Yield 4 servings for appetizer, 2 servings for entree

Number Of Ingredients 11

12 large raw shrimp (wild U-10 or 15/20 count) peeled, deveined and cut in "fan" shape (similar to butterfly)
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice (from1 small lime), plus lime wedges for garnish
1 teaspoon Thai chili sauce (recommended: Sriracha) or more, to taste
1 tablespoon light brown sugar
2 tablespoons bottled minced garlic or 6 fresh cloves, minced
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 Thai chile, sliced thin or habanero or Scotch bonnet
1/4 cup canola or olive oil
1/4 cup toasted sesame oil
1/4 cup soy sauce
4 to 5 grinds black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat a grill to medium-high heat.
  • Put the shrimp into a glass bowl. Whisk the remaining ingredients in a medium bowl and pour 1/2 to 2/3 if it over the shrimp. (Reserve the remaining marinade to brush on the shrimp during grilling.) Allow the shrimp to marinate for only 8 to 10 minutes or the lime juice will begin to "cook" the shrimp. Grill the shrimp, approximately 2 to 3 minutes per side while brushing with the reserved marinade. I use a silicone brush. Remove the shrimp from the grill to a platter and serve garnished with lime wedges.

SPICY CILANTRO SHRIMP RECIPE

Spicy Cilantro Shrimp Recipe image

Eight minutes is all you need to make this amazingly delicious Spicy Cilantro Shrimp. Eight minutes! Whomever you serve this to will wonder how in the world you made this "secret sauce" and they will keep coming back for more!

Provided by Valentina K. Wein

Categories     Main Course

Time 8m

Number Of Ingredients 6

¼ cup grapeseed oil
2½ teaspoons chili paste
1½ tablespoons minced garlic
½ cup roughly chopped cilantro, (washed and dried)
1 pound medium-large raw shrimp ((about 31 to 35 per pound), peeled and deveined )
salt and freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Make the sauce. Add the oil to a large sauté pan and place it over low heat. Add the chili paste, garlic and cilantro to the pan and let it simmer for about 2 minutes. Then turn the heat to high.
  • Prep shrimp. While the pan is heating, place the shrimp on a baking sheet or large plate and season both sides with salt and pepper.
  • Sauté. Once the pan is hot, add the shrimp, with at least a couple inches between them -- you should hear a sizzling sound. If you don't, your pan's not hot enough. Wait until the pan is very hot and listen for the sizzle!Sauté the shrimp just until cooked through, about 1 to 1½ minutes per side.Make sure you serve the shrimp with any bits of the sauce that have stuck to the bottom of the pan. Those bits are delicious!!!

THAI-CURRY SHRIMP LINGUINE

Thai-Curry Shrimp Linguine image

When you want something different for a weeknight dinner but need to use up pantry staples, try this easy shrimp linguine. Fragrant Thai curry paste and creamy light coconut milk create a silky, complex sauce that coats long strands of pasta, green beans, and shrimp. Top it off with cooling cilantro and a squirt of lime juice, and you'll be out of your mealtime rut in no time.

Provided by Riley Wofford

Categories     Food & Cooking     Ingredients     Seafood Recipes     Shrimp Recipes

Time 40m

Number Of Ingredients 9

Kosher salt
12 ounces linguine
6 ounces green beans, trimmed and cut into 2-inch pieces
1/4 cup green curry paste, such as Maesri
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro stems, plus leaves for serving
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
3/4 cup light coconut milk
1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice, plus wedges for serving

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook 4 minutes less than package instructions. Add green beans and cook until crisp-tender, about 3 more minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain.
  • In a large skillet, cook curry paste and cilantro stems in oil over medium heat, stirring, until very fragrant, 2 to 3 minutes. Add coconut milk, season with salt, and bring to a simmer; cook until thickened slightly, about 2 minutes. Stir in shrimp and cook until opaque, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Remove from heat; stir in pasta, green beans, and lime juice. Toss to coat, adding enough reserved pasta water to create a silky sauce; season to taste. Serve with lime wedges and cilantro leaves.
