8 ounces full-fat cream cheese, at room temperature
1/4 cup sour cream, at room temperature
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp ground pepper
1/8 tsp salt
1/4 cup diced roasted red pepper, drained (optional)
2 tbsp green onions, chopped + 1 teaspoon for topping
4 ounces cheddar cheese, shredded
1/2 cup pecans, chopped

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl combine cream cheese and sour cream. Mix it well until creamy and well combined.
  • Add the seasoning garlic powder, pepper, and salt; mix to combine.
  • Gently fold in the roasted pepper and green onions followed by cheddar cheese.
  • Transfer the cheese mixture to a clean wrap and form the cheese mixture like a ball shape and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  • To a parchment paper, add the chopped pecans with a few green onions. Transfer the cheese ball to the parchment paper and coat them well with the pecan pieces.
  • Serve the cheese ball with the crackers.

The best easy cream cheese ball with cheddar cheese, cream cheese, strawberry preserves and spices, then rolled in chopped pecans. It disappears at parties!

2 (8-ounce) packages reduced-fat cream cheese (at room temperature)
1/3 cup strawberry preserves
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
6-10 dashes hot sauce
1 cup freshly shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup raw pecan pieces
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Crackers or baguette slices ((I like buttery Ritz-type crackers or town house crackers))

Steps:

  • In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese and preserves until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the bowl, then beat in the garlic powder, salt, and hot sauce, and then the cheddar cheese.
  • Lay a large sheet of plastic wrap on the counter. Scrape the cheese mixture into the center in as circle-like of a mound as you can. It will not be a perfect ball at this point. Wrap the edges of the plastic around it to seal and encourage it to form a round ball. Place the wrapped cream cheese in a bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour or overnight.
  • Toast the pecans: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spread the pecans onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes, stirring once or twice, until they are deeply toasted and fragrant. Watch very carefully toward the end of the baking time to ensure the pecans do not burn. Transfer to a cutting board and chop into small bits. Let cool completely to room temperature.
  • When ready to serve, remove the cheese ball from the refrigerator. Place the chopped pecans on a plate. (I find it's easiest to use a plate with edges that curve up a little. A pie dish works well too.) Add the parsley and lightly mix with your fingers to combine. Unwrap the cheese ball and place it on the plate with the parsley and pecans, coating well. The cheese ball won't roll like a true ball. Gently lift and turn it, patting the pecans and parsley all over the outside. Carefully lift it onto a serving plate. Serve with crackers or baguette slices.

1/2 cup sour cream
8 oz sharp cheddar cheese, freshly grated
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup fresh green onions, minced or finely diced
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 cup pecan pieces**

Steps:

  • With a hand mixer, beat together the softened cream cheese, sour cream, garlic powder, green onions, salt, and pepper until combined
  • Grate the cheddar cheese block fresh
  • Beat in the sharp cheddar to combine
  • Cover and chill for around an hour, until the cheese ball mixture begins to firm
  • Use a spatula and greased hands to form the cheese ball shape, then roll in the pecans until coated on all sides
  • Serve with your favorite crackers and enjoy!
  • Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 - 5 days

Looking for an easy cheese ball recipe? Look no further than the Ultimate Cream Cheese and Onion Ball! Stuffed with caramelized onions and coated in crispy fried onions, this cheese and onion ball is sure to get the party started!

1lb / 500g Cream Cheese
2lb / 1kg White Onions, (finely diced)
160g / 2 cups Crispy Fried Onions (or as needed (see notes))
100g / 1 cup Cheddar Cheese, (grated)
2 tbsp Butter ((or olive oil, or a mix))
2 tbsp Brown Sugar
2 tbsp Balsamic Vinegar
3/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Black Pepper

Steps:

  • Melt your butter over medium heat in a suitably sized non-stick pan and mix in your onion. Once softened, add your salt and pepper. Turn to low heat and stir occasionally ensuring an even cook for all the slices. After around 20-25 mins they will begin turning brown and releasing sugar. At this point add in your brown sugar and balsamic vinegar. Keep on low heat.
  • Cook for a further 25-30mins, stirring occasionally until dark brown and sticky. The aim of the game is to cook them as low and slow as possible, best results take over and hour. Do not be tempted to turn up the heat, if they start catching/charring at all just turn down the heat.
  • Take off heat and leave to cool. Once cool, combine in a bowl with your cream cheese and cheddar. Taste for seasoning.
  • Drop cheese mixture onto a large sheet of cling film and form into a ball. Pop in the fridge until needed to firm up (60 mins should suffice).
  • Before serving, roll in your crispy onions and ensure a full coverage. Serve with nibbles of choice!

1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
1 cup sharp shredded cheddar cheese

1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
Dash each salt and pepper
TOPPING:
3 tablespoons real bacon bits

1-1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sour cream until smooth. Stir in the Swiss and cheddar cheeses, onion, bacon, pecans, pimientos, relish, salt and pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour., In a small shallow bowl, combine the bacon, parsley, pecans and poppy seeds. Shape cheese mixture into a ball; roll in bacon mixture.
