I make this at least 1 to 2 times a week!! I had a variation of this at a restaurant one time and I adored it, a while later the restaurant closed and I was stuck yearning for more. That is when I took matters into my own hands...

- tilapia fillets
- capers
- butter
- seasoning salt
- montreal steak seasoning
- cayenne pepper

Steps:

  • Season tilapia fillets with 2 dashes of seasoning salt, 2 dashes of Montreal steak seasoning (yes I know it's steak seasoning, but it works wonders on fish too), and 1 dash of cayenne pepper
  • Add 2 pats of butter to a pan and turn on medium heat, begin to cook fish turning it over after 2 to 3 minutes (because it is a thin fish) be gentle!
  • After you cook the amount of fillets you want, place them in a baking dish and sit off to the side.
  • To the same pan you used to cook the fish, add another 2 pats of butter and add 1 to 2 tablespoons of capers. You should start to smell their fragrance rather quickly, once you do, pour caper butter mixture over fish and back in the oven at 350 for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy

Tickle your taste buds with this wonderful new tilapia recipe. For those of you who are not familiar with this fish it taste a lot like cod or white fish...very good!

Number Of Ingredients 8

2 filleted tilapia fillets, about 4 fillets
1 cup apple cider vinegar, more if needed
2 tablespoons horseradish
2 tablespoons low-fat mayonnaise
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon basil leaves
1 tablespoon paprika
1 medium lemon, wedged

Steps:

  • Wash tilapia and place in flat non-metal pan. Cover with apple cider vinegar. Let stand in refrigerator 1/2 hour.
  • Mix together low fat mayo and horseradish. Place aside.
  • Bring enough water to make 1/2 inch depth in large pan to a boil. Place garlic in water, turn off heat. Remove tilapia from vinegar, carefully place into heated water and turn heat to very low.
  • Sprinkle basil leaves and paprika over tilapia fillets and very lightly simmer, covered, for 10-15 minutes. Turn off heat.
  • Serve with a spoonful of horseradish/mayonnaise mixture on each fillet and a lemon wedge.

My kids love making and eating this super-easy fish recipe. Add Parmesan cheese to breadcrumb mix for something a little different.

1 egg
¼ cup soy sauce
1 ½ pounds tilapia fillets, cut into 2-inch pieces
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Steps:

  • Beat the egg and soy sauce together in a bowl.
  • Gently press the tilapia pieces into the flour to coat; shake off the excess flour. Dip each flour-coated piece into the beaten egg mixture and then press into bread crumbs. Gently toss between your hands so any bread crumbs that haven't stuck can fall away. Place the breaded tilapia onto a plate while breading the rest; do not stack.
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the breaded tilapia in the vegetable oil until golden brown, about 5 minutes per side.
