Using white wine makes my version of sangria a little lighter, yet it still has the same wonderful sweetness. Frozen fruit allows me to serve this any time of year. Nothing beats this summer sangria recipe-white wine over red, of course. -Sharon Tipton, Orlando, Florida

1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brandy
1 cup sliced peeled fresh or frozen peaches, thawed
1 cup sliced fresh or frozen sliced strawberries, thawed
1 medium lemon, sliced
1 medium lime, sliced
1 bottle (750 milliliters) dry white wine, chilled
1 can (12 ounces) lemon-lime soda, chilled
Ice cubes

Steps:

  • In a pitcher, mix sugar and brandy until sugar is dissolved. Add remaining ingredients; stir gently to combine. Serve over ice.

This sangria takes five to 10 minutes to assemble in a large pitcher. Take the time to prepare it in the morning so the sangria has several hours to develop its fruity flavor. Pull it out when dinner is ready to serve that evening.

3 shots Calvados or other apple liquor
1 lime, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
2 ripe peaches, cut into wedges
3 ripe green apples seeded and cut into wedges
1 bottle white Rioja Spanish wine or other dry white wine
1 pint raspberries
Sparkling soda water, for topping off glasses of sangria at table

Steps:

  • Combine sugar, Calvados, lime, lemon, peaches and apples in a large pitcher. Cover with 1 bottle of Rioja wine and chill sangria several hours. To serve, spoon fruits into glasses or goblets, adding a few fresh raspberries in each glass, pour wine over top of the fruit. Top glasses of sangria off with a splash of soda water and serve.

1 medium lime ((thinly sliced into rounds))
1 medium lemon ((thinly sliced into rounds))
1/4 cup organic cane sugar ((or sub agave, powdered coconut sugar, maple syrup, or stevia to taste // for drier sangria, omit))
1/4 cup apple brandy
1/2 medium organic green apple ((cored, skin on, chopped into small pieces))
1 medium ripe peach or nectarine ((thinly sliced))
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 750-ml bottle dry, crisp white wine
Ice or frozen berries for serving
Sparkling water ((optional))
Fresh mint ((optional))

Steps:

  • Add lime, lemon, and sugar (or other sweeteners) to a large pitcher (or use multiple pitchers if making a larger batch) and muddle with a muddler or gently crush with a wooden spoon for 45 seconds.
  • Add apple brandy and muddle again to combine for 30 seconds. Add apple, nectarine, and strawberries and stir to incorporate. Then add wine and stir once more.
  • Taste and adjust flavor as needed, adding more sweetener of choice for sweetness, lemon or lime juice for acidity, or fruit. Stir to combine.
  • Add ice or frozen berries and stir once more to chill. Serve as is or with a bit more ice and mint (optional). To dilute the mixture, top off glasses with a bit of sparkling water (optional).
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours, though best when enjoyed within the first 1-2 days.

2 packages (3 ounces each) lemon gelatin
2 cups club soda, chilled
1 cup sliced fresh strawberries
1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
1/2 cup green grapes, halved

Steps:

  • In a large heatproof bowl, add boiling wine to gelatin; stir 2 minutes to completely dissolve. Stir in chilled club soda. Refrigerate until thickened but not firm, about 45 minutes. 1 pkg. (6 oz.) JELL-O Orange Flavor Gelatin
3 cups cold club soda
1 Tbsp. each lemon and lime juice
3 cups mixed seedless red and green grape halves, divided
1 can (11 oz.) mandarin oranges, drained, divided
1 cup sliced strawberries, divided

Steps:

  • Bring grape juice to boil in small saucepan. Add to gelatin mix in medium bowl; stir 2 min. until completely dissolved. Stir in club soda, lemon and lime juices. Place bowl of gelatin in larger bowl of ice water. Let stand 10 min. or until gelatin is thickened, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in half the fruit. Pour into 6-cup mold sprayed with cooking spray.
  • Refrigerate 4 hours or until firm. Unmold. Garnish with remaining fruit.

1 bottle Pinot Grigio, or other dry fruity white wine
1/4 cup white rum
24 ounces lemon lime soda
1 pint fresh cherries (Bing are best), optional
1 pint fresh strawberries, if small left whole, if large cut into quarters, optional

Steps:

  • Fill a large pitcher half way with some ice. Add the lemon and lime slices, white wine, rum and lemon-lime soda. Stir and then pour into a glass and garnish with fresh cherries and and strawberries, if desired.
