Yield 1 loaf (16 slices).

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
1/3 cup boiling water
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/3 cup plus 1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup cold water
1/3 cup wheat bran
1 cup whole wheat flour
1-3/4 to 2 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside. In another bowl, combine boiling water, oil, sugar and salt; stir until sugar is dissolved. Stir in cold water and bran. Stir into yeast mixture. Add whole flour and 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour. Beat on medium speed for 2-3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining all-purpose flour to make a stiff dough., Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour., Punch the dough down; cover and let rest for 8 minutes. Shape into a loaf. Place in a greased 9x5-in. loaf pan. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 45 minutes. Bake at 350° for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from pan to cool on a wire rack.

1 cup milk
1 cup mashed potato
1 cup water
1 compressed cake yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons salt
3 tablespoons shortening, melted
1 1/2 cups All-Bran® Original
6 cups all-purpose flour

Steps:

  • 1. Heat milk to scalding. Stir in potatoes and water. Pour into large mixing bowl. Cool to lukewarm.2. Crumble yeast and stir into potato mixture. Let stand about 10 minutes until thickened. Stir in sugar, salt, shortening and Kellogg's® All-Bran® cereal. Let stand about 5 minutes. Add flour to make stiff dough, mixing thoroughly:3. Turn dough out on lightly floured board and knead about 10 minutes or until smooth and satiny.4. Place dough in warm bowl coated with cooking spray. Spray surface with cooking spray. Cover lightly and let rise in warm place until double in bulk.5. Punch dough down in the center. Turn the edges in toward the center and turn over so that the smooth side is on top. Spray surface with cooking spray. Cover and let rise again until double in bulk.6. Turn out on board, divide in two equal portions and mold into balls. Let rest, covered, for 10 minutes.7. Shape and place in two 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pans coated with cooking spray. Brush tops with additional melted shortening, if desired. Cover and let rise until double in bulk.8. Bake at 350°F about 55 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 10 minutes in pans. Remove from pans and cool on wire racks. Wrap in plastic wrap to store.

3/4 cup All-Bran
1/2 cup boiling water
2 packages (1/4 ounce each) active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water (110° to 115°)
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 egg, beaten
3-1/2 to 3-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter, melted

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine bran and boiling water; set aside. In another bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar and salt. Add egg and yeast mixture; mix well. Add bran mixture and 2 cups flour; beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough. , Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. , Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Divide dough in half; divide each half into 12 pieces. Shape each into a ball; place balls into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking pan. Brush with melted butter. I did a google search and found this recipe prefaced with a lot of different names. Since all of the recipes were identical I thought I would give it a try to deplete my large supply of raisin bran cereal. It made a small loaf but turned out quite yummy! Enjoy!

2 1/4 teaspoons bread machine yeast
2 cups bread flour
1 1/2 cups Raisin Bran cereal, right from the box
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup warm water (or cool if recommended by your machine)
1 tablespoon warm water (or cool if recommended by your machine)

Steps:

  • Add all ingredients in the order recommended by your bread machine.
  • The original recipe recommends the white bread setting. I used my whole wheat setting to warm the ingredients prior to mixing.
  • Press "START".
