1/2 teaspoon dried basil
4 slices French bread (1 inch thick)

  • In a small bowl, combine butter and basil. Brush butter mixture over one side of each bread slice. Place buttered side up on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake, uncovered, at 400° for 5 minutes or until golden brown.

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 ounces butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 bunch basil leaves (generous Handful)
1 bunch parsley (use 1/3 Of The Amount Of Basil)
2 garlic cloves
1 whole green onion
2 pinches salt, To Taste
1 pinch pepper, to taste
1 loaf ciabatta (or French Bread)
1 1/2 cups grated parmesan cheese (up To 2 Cups)

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients except the bread and cheese in a food processor, and process until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Cut open the loaf of bread and spread both halves with the basil butter. Put the halves together and wrap in aluminum foil.
  • Bake for in a 400ºF oven for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the bread, separate the halves and load them up with Parmesan cheese. Return them to the oven and either crank up the heat to 500ºF or put them under the broiler.
  • Cook until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starting to get brown. Serve!

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, room temperature
2 tablespoons drained capers
3/4 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground pepper
3 French bread baguettes, halved lengthwise

Steps:

  • Chop basil in processor. Add butter, capers, salt and generous amount of pepper and process until well combined. (Can be prepared 2 days ahead. Cover and refrigerate. Bring butter mixture to room temperature before using.)
  • Preheat oven to 500°F. Arrange bread cut side up on cookie sheets. Bake until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Spread cut surfaces with basil butter. Cut crosswise and serve.

Stir in cheese., Cut the bread in half lengthwise; place cut side down on an uncovered grill over medium heat for 2 minutes or until lightly toasted. Brush cut side with the butter mixture. Grill or broil 1-2 minutes longer.
