HOMEMADE CROCKPOT APPLESAUCE



Homemade Crockpot Applesauce image

This really is the easiest homemade Crockpot Applesauce. Perfect for snacking or baking!

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 pounds apples, cored and quartered
2 Tablespoons lemon juice
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon cloves
1/4 teaspoon ginger

Steps:

  • Get boiling water canner ready. Wash jars and lids. Have rings ready. Since this jam is processed in the water bath canner for 20 minutes the jars don't need to be sterilized, just washed in hot soapy water.
  • Add apples, water, and lemon juice to a 6 quart slow cooker. Cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, or until apples are soft and mushy.
  • Add spices (and sugar if using).
  • Use an immersion blender to completely chop and blend skins and spices. Be watchful of splatter, it's hot! If using a food mill, do so carefully into a large bowl and return mix to the slow cooker on high.
  • Bring applesauce back to a low boil and maintain a low boil while filling prepared canning jars.
  • Pour the applesauce into jars, leaving 1/2" inch headspace. Remove any air bubbles with a wooden spoon or spatula and adjust headspace.
  • Wipe rims, place lids and rings on jars.
  • Process in a boiling water canner for 20 minutes, adjust time for altitude.

Number Of Ingredients 7

6 pounds apples (about 18 medium), peeled and sliced
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 cup butter, cubed
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Steps:

  • In a 5-qt. slow cooker, combine the apples, sugar, water, salt and cinnamon. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until tender. , Turn off heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Mash if desired. Serve warm or cold.

Number Of Ingredients 5

6 lbs apples, peeled, cored and roughly chopped
1 stick cinnamon
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar (or honey) - optional
Bottled lemon juice (for canning)

Steps:

  • Pell, core, and roughly chop your apples.
  • Throw apples, water, cinnamon and sugar (or honey) into a saucepan or crockpot. Bring to a boil, reduce, and simmer for 20 minutes in a saucepan, or slow cook on low for 4 hours in a crockpot.
  • Puree until smooth, return to saucepan/crockpot and reduce until desired consistency.
  • Add Tbsp lemon juice to each pint, 2 Tbsp lemon juice to each quart.
  • Ladle hot applesauce into hot jars, leaving 1/2 inch headspace. Remove air bubbles, wipe rims and affix lids and jars.
  • Process jars in a boiling water bath for 20 minutes for pints, 25 minutes for quarts.
  • Enjoy!

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a slow cooker; stir to mix.
