1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon ground red pepper
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups white sugar
½ cup sour cream
¼ cup butter, softened
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon red food coloring
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, ground red pepper, and salt together in a bowl.
  • Beat sugar, sour cream, butter, eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla together in a bowl. Add flour mixture to sour cream mixture and stir to combine. Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with fudgy crumbs, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool in the pan before slicing.

Posted in response to a request and found in an online search, I have not made this so times are estimates. EDITED TO ADD: Reviewers suggest baking the brownies for a shorter time. Changing baking time from "40-45 mins" to "30-35 mins"... however, I'd suggest checking at 25 mins and then again at 30 mins if you think they need to be baked longer.

1 (18 ounce) box red velvet cake mix
3/4 cup melted butter
1 egg
1/2 cup water
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325°F; grease 9x13" baking pan.
  • Combine egg, butter, water in a large bowl.
  • Add box mix, stir until the ingredients are combined and lumps are gone.
  • Stir in chips and 1 cup of nuts.
  • Pour mixture into prepared pan.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes.
  • Let cool for 15 minutes and place the cake on wire cooling rack.

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
¼ cup white sugar
1 egg
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8x8 baking dish with 1 teaspoon butter.
  • Whisk 1 cup sugar and melted butter together in a bowl. Add vanilla, cocoa powder, salt, food coloring, vinegar, and eggs to sugar mixture, blending well after each addition.
  • Stir flour into sugar mixture until batter is just combined. Pour batter into prepared baking dish, reserving 1/3 cup batter for cream cheese layer.
  • Blend cream cheese, 1/4 cup sugar, egg, and vanilla extract together in a bowl. Spread cream cheese mixture over brownie batter in the prepared baking dish. Pour reserved 1/3 cup brownie batter in 2 rows over cream cheese layer. Pull a knife through the batter rows into cream cheese layer to form swirls.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely before slicing.
