I add this topping to muffins, pie, and cakes so often I decided to make it in a large amount and freeze. Now I have it ready whenever the mood strikes!

1 cup butter
⅔ cup white sugar
⅔ cup brown sugar
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon, or to taste

Steps:

Beat butter, white sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until creamy. Mix flour and cinnamon into creamed butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs. Store in airtight container in the freezer until needed.

4 1/2 ounces all-purpose flour
6 ounces light brown sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and/or allspice
6 ounces almonds, chopped and toasted
3 ounces unsalted butter, room temperature

Steps:

Whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon and almonds in a medium mixing bowl.
Add the butter and use your fingers to lightly knead into the dry ingredients until the mixture is crumbly and the butter is well incorporated.
Use to top muffins, quick breads, crisps or ice cream. Store in an airtight container, in the refrigerator, for up to a month.

This is very handy to have ready in the freezer if you do a lot of baking. Of coarse, this mix may be refrigerated until ready to use, but it will keep almost indefinitely in the freezer.

2 cups walnuts
3 cups packed brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
2 -3 tablespoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon vanilla
1 cup very cold butter (cut into 16 chunks)

Steps:

In a bowl of a food processor, place the walnuts, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and vanilla; pulse briefly to combine.
Add in the COLD butter chunks; process to make a coarse crumble mixture.
Freeze in a covered freezer container, or a ziploc freezer bag, and remove as needed.
