- Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, milk and vanilla. Beat in chocolate until blended. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in walnuts., Drop by tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until set. Cool on pans for 1 minute before removing to wire racks to cool completely., In a large bowl, beat the frosting ingredients until smooth. Frost cookies.

Steps:
- Combine sweetened condensed milk, coconut milk, milk, egg yolks, and cornstarch in a saucepan over low heat; cook, stirring constantly, until thickened into a custard, about 10 minutes.
- Divide custard between 2 bowls. Mix 2 1/2 cups shredded coconut into the first bowl of custard. Fold cocoa powder into the second bowl of custard. Let custard mixtures cool, about 10 minutes.
- Beat cream in a chilled glass or metal bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form.
- Pour 1/4 cup milk into a shallow bowl. Dip ladyfingers briefly in milk and arrange in the bottom of a glass trifle bowl. Spoon coconut custard on top. Layer remaining ladyfingers and chocolate custard on top. Smooth whipped cream over the top.
- Place 1 1/4 cup shredded coconut in a small skillet over low heat. Cook and stir until toasted and fragrant, 3 to 5 minutes. Let cool.
- Sprinkle toasted coconut and chocolate over whipped cream. Cover and refrigerate until flavors meld, about 4 hours.

- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets. Prepare the filling first. In a 2 quart saucepan, over medium heat, stir together the milk and coconut. Combine the cornstarch and 1/2 cup of sugar; stir into the saucepan. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring constantly until thickened. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
- Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt; set aside. In a medium bowl, cream together the butter, 1 cup sugar and vanilla until smooth. Stir in the egg and milk. Gradually mix in the sifted ingredients to form a dough. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch in thickness. Cut into 2 1/2 inch circles with a cookie cutter. Place half of the circles 1 1/2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of the filling onto the center of each cookie on the pan. Top with another circle and seal the edges by pinching.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Spread coconut flakes onto an ungreased baking sheet.
- Bake coconut in the preheated oven, stirring every 3 to 5 minutes, until toasted, about 10 minutes.
- Mix sweetened condensed milk, flour, corn syrup, brown sugar, 1/4 cup butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and salt together in a bowl; fold in toasted coconut. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish.
- Bake in the preheated oven until cooked through and slightly browned, 25 to 35 minutes. Set aside to cool completely.
- Heat chocolate chips and milk in the top of a double boiler over simmering water, stirring frequently and scraping down the sides with a rubber spatula to avoid scorching. Stir in confectioners' sugar, 2 tablespoons butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until frosting is smooth, 2 to 4 minutes. Spread frosting over bars. Refrigerate 30 minutes before cutting.
